One of my housemates during my study years had a double renal pelvis infection. She postponed it, but in the end she was in too much pain and discomfort that she went to the hospital. Well, they immediately kept her there. After several days she was allowed to go home, if I am correct the doctor would have liked her to stay a little bit longer. She had to rest and don't overdo, it was the best if someone could take care of her. In my memory she was in a lot of pain (was even painful to see) and took it a long time for her to become her old self again.

We learned that one of the measurements that can help is the intake of sufficient amount of water (fluids).

If I am correct the renal pelvis infection can also be a result of a neglected urinary tract infection.

Well it certainly must be something a little more alarming for her to fly home. I am sure she would have swallowed antibiotics and carried on otherwise.

I was surprised that Maxima was present at the state banquet Monday night!

The king visited his wife at Bronovo's tonight, after his arrival in the Netherlands earlier today.

The Fox News ( yuck ) link said that she had been taking medication but the fever and back pain weren't subsiding so I assume she needed IV antibiotics and that tests were to make sure it was only a kidney infection she was dealing with?

Poor thing, but LOL leave it to Maxima to fly home from a state visit, get into the hospital asap for unmanagable pain and wear a red hat doing doing so.

Maxima is still in hospital. It is impossible that she will be able to do her duties next week. So W-A will probably go alone to the European Parlement, European Council and European Commision on Tuesday and Remembrance Sunday in London. Someone has to replace her for Pensioen3daagse (about pensions) and World Conference of Women's Shelters. W-A is very busy that day and Beatrix is recovering from a cataract surgery. So maybe Laurentien or Constantijn will replace her.
