The Daily Mail has a breakdown of the cost (or what they think the costs re) for Kate's tour wardrobe and jewellery - 26,000

http://www.dailymail.co.u...-royal-tour-wardrobe.html

That is an insane amount of money for clothes that were nothing special and for what, a weeks worth of "work"?!

Maybe that's why she doesn't do alot. Say she did even 30 weeks a year work, 30 x 25,000 = 750,000  Laughing Smiley

I think if you were to add up the cost of my wardrobe from the time I was 18, it still wouldn't add up to  26,000. And I'm 34 years old, so that should tell you something about the kind of clothes I buy

Scary thing is, I think some of their estimates were conservative.  They did not add in some things either.  On the other hand, they did add in the cost of things she has owned for some time.

However, I am not really shocked by this amount given Kate's wardrobe costs have risen every year.  She rarely uses separates that she can mix and match like so many of us in the business/corporate world utilize. Considering that Kate is incorporating more and more bespoke items, the cost will continue to rise.

Having said that, I do think that she often buys things very similar to items and/ or colours she already has; that is wasteful spending.

She needs a professional stylist. One who will organize her closets and inventory her wardrobe, shoes and accessories so that she has a clear, visual catalogue of what she has (and where and when it has been worn).  Until that happens, I doubt her habits will change.

Secret  Unless Charles decides to establish a spending budget.

I think it says more about the kinds of clothes *Kate* buys. How is this even justifiable at this point? Surely someone in the household realises how out of touch this looks?

There are so many wonderful ways to bargain shop (let's not get into the pathetic tailoring jobs of her most expensive and beloved bespoke), and even learning to accessorise would mean the ability to rewear multiple pieces. It isn't hard, but if you find that it is, ask for help from someone other than Carole.

What I mind the most is that most of her stuff is so incredibly similar that you are hard-pressed to recognize that a dress is new and you haven't seen it before. Case in point the numerous light blue coat dresses or coat dresses at all. They often have the very same pattern and simply a different colour.
Now I have some things in different colours as well: so called work horses, that are simply staples and serve me well for several years and numourous  occasions. But I don't dress to impress and I don't dress to stand out.
