is he the first Oscar of the SRF?

Two Oscars were kings in the 1800's: Oscar I and Oscar II and there have been several princes called Oscar too, so it has been a common name for the Bernadotte sons.

Thanks for the info  Smiley

Im soo happy that oscar is the duke of skane, i was afraid the snake baby would get that title, thankfully that didnt happen, i live in skane and feel really good to know this Smiley congrats to vic, dan and big sister estelle.. I dont like the name oscar, but whatever Smiley

Sk?ne is a really heavy weight duchy to have, both in history, the size of the population, all the noble families that reside there etc. I thought that they would pick Sk?ne for Estelle since it seemed fitting to give such an important duchy to the future heir to the throne. I'm glad that it at least was given to the 3:rd in line to the throne.

It makes me think that they deliberately saved Skane for Estelle's sibling.
Estelle's going to be Queen anyway, so at least Oscar has a substantial Duchy.
Both are special in their own way Smiley

You're probably right. It could be more or less a full time job to work for Skane, if that's what Prince Oscar wants to do in the future. Sk?ne is also a part of the country that is really local patriotic so I can really see them embracing their own Duke.

The first portraits of Estelle were taken when she was four days old.

I looked the old thread about Estelle to see when they showed the first pics and wow it was a lot of dislike for the name, including swedes. I am happy that now they seem to like the little princess despite the name.

Cant wait for the pics...hopefully all 4 kids. Angel

Disappointed they didn't name him Bertil. But it's a lovely name anyway.
Now let's wait for the baby pics

Great news.
If I remember correctly Oscar is a Celtic name. It was very in vogue when the first (Karl Johan) Bernadotte baptized his son Oscar (I).

Like so many, Oscar was not my choice but it is a strong masculine name.  Yes  It makes me envision him growing up into a strong and capable man who stands by his sister and parents.
I did think he would have a fourth name as they gave Estelle four names but maybe that was because she is the future queen?  No matter,

Welcome Oscar Carl Olof!      Champagne       May God bless you with love and happiness throughout your life.
