Norwegian wife, and mother of four.
I am Danish at heart, and I love their royal family. Yes, all of them.

I don't like these pictures. They looks pretty sterile and cold to me. I suppose they fit the birthday girl, then.

I have read that Mia simply picked it up and that was the snap that ended up being chosen - an accident but one that is now in the public domain - little Mia Tindall holding her great-grandmother's famous handbag for the 90th birthday picture.

Who knows in years to come it could be a trivia question - which great-grandchild of QEII held the handbag in the 90th birthday picture? Everyone here will get it right of course.

i totally agree.
the pics cast a sinister/"bleak house" light over the "everyday life" of the queen, rather than picture her as the royal mum and grandmum that she indeed is.

little mia saves the day with her funny pose, but the greenish cold light of these pics is so similar to the one that shone in the 2008 leibovitz's pics that it almost seem she pasted some grandchildren in,for the occasion.

It's competing in the creepy scale with the Danish "Flowers in the Attic" painting.

I really like them. The one with the kids is so much better composed than that weird stamp photo. Little Mia is adorable with granny's bag! The one of QEII and Anne brought tears to my eyes, such a lovely portrait of mother and daughter

On anybody else, that outfit would be best worn by a scarecrow, but on a 90 year old lady, it's charming.  Happy Birthday Lillibet! You look blooming! Don't leave your idiot children and grandchildren in charge any time soon!
