This is Haakon at his best :-). He seems funny (including the jumper), friendly and approachable. Great idea to bring IA who seems to be ready to be trained in.

Ingrid said the sweather was a christmas gift from her and Sverre Magnus, she asked the reporter with a smile if it was not beautiful. Anyway a relatable gift many teenagers get their parents.

Photo from the interview the did with NRK and the year with the royal family

They say they do not look forward to the kids moving out as it will happen fast since it is only one school year between Ingrid and Sverre. Ingrid will not have many engagements as long as she is educating herself. They were impressed with her at her 18 th birthday and that she manages to be herself in all the official

Yes, I don't think anyone can fault their parenting. Or the support they've gotten in their roles as parents from the king and queen.

That's a nice photo.

I'd love for this couple to work more, but I do have a real soft spot for M-M and I enjoy the engagements she does take on. They are also doing a great job at parenting. they are up there with the Belgians in terms of preparing their daughter for royal life while giving her the space and support to grow as an individual

According to the calendar Haakon had about 270 events in 2022 when different events are listed on official trips. In the interview he says when asked

Quote
He himself gets more and more responsibility and more assignments for the royal house.

- To what extent is a generational change underway?

- The long lines are such that one generation follows the next, so we've kind of planned for that all along the way. But I think my father and mother are good at letting me have space and taking me along at other events, so that it becomes a natural way to do it, says the crown prince.

- And then I have to say that they are still incredibly active, so I am very impressed that they are able to keep up the pace they are doing. And I think it's nice to be able to do my part as well

I think Haakon and William both married women they found stable inside and would make good mothers and partners.

Neither woman seems overtly in it for the role. Yes, to a degree, but more the man and the marriage.

I don't think that MM and Kate compare well. I think Kate just lived the blueprint life of an upper class person in the UK: starting with having a conservative name, attending private schools, not doing much, focus on marrying well. MM went down a lot of dead end roads including drugs, being a single mom, endless partying, living on social welfare.

Initially they both started of incredibly slow. But there was a development in Kate. We never saw a lot of development in MM, really.

It's true we haven't seen a lot of development in M-M, not like with Kate. And her background is very iffy. I read somewhere she always dated well and dated up. But Haakon does seem to like her in her role as a wife for him and mother for his kids and seems to have low or no expectations of her role as a future queen. Works out well for both of them.

I don't think MM got as much criticism as Kate did, maybe because Norwegians are generally reluctant to openly or vociferously criticize their royal family. I remember being kind of appalled at his choice of her.

Kate has really stepped into her role nicely and does come from a good enough background for it, common and not aristo. I'm the most impressed with Kate and her development.

Both seem to be in happy marriages and that is good for the upcoming generation. Both future kings got what they needed and wanted in a wife and mother.

MM could have been a much better asset to the RF if she wanted to be.

Well perhaps given the flighty nature of Martha Louise and her penchant for heading down some strange rabbit holes, perhaps the king and queen are quite happy that Mette-Marit is a relatively placid person who seems to have done a great job raising the future heir to the throne.
