Special edition on the occasion of the Crown Prince couple's copper anniversary.

On November 14, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary celebrated their copper anniversary. On this occasion, we released an exclusive magazine ROYAL, where we look back at 12 ? years of royal love with lots of lovely pictures of the royal couple and their wonderful family.

In Photo Bladet's new ROYAL, we have composed a colorful and crisp bouquet of the best pictures of the royal couple, and we hope you will enjoy the trip through the family album, which contains the largest and most touching moments with a - still - very much in love couple and their four beautiful children.

Did I miss something ? ? ?   The Derf's married 14 May 2004 - which makes it 12 years past May (2016), no? Why now in November, is that a Danish tradition.

I had to look it up:

I don't know if it is the same in Denmark, but in the Netherlands 12,5 years of marriage is a landmark. I think that's called copper wedding. May 2004 - May 2016 makes 12 years, while May 2016 - November 2016 is 6 months. With the result of 12,5 years of marriage  Wink Smiley

For example my parents and their peers celebrated their 12,5 and 25 years wedding jubilee. And currently they are heading for their 50th in a few years time (If they are allowed to make it in good health).

That is precisely the case in Denmark as well.

In Denmark, it's not the 10 year anniversary that's the big deal. It's 12,5. Copper wedding. It's halfway to Silver wedding which is 25 years. The next big one is Gold wedding which is 50 years of marriage. Etc.

Wow, I never heard of 12.5 years of marriage being commemorated in a special way. Must be unique to Europe.

They must have had to search far and wide to find enough "affectionate and loving" shots for their "bouquet".

I think more paticularly northern european..... I had never heard of it until it was brought up in relation to F&M

We celebrated our 25th anniversary at fhe end of last year, and my friend wondered why we were making such a big deal..... She didn't know it had always been celebrated as a major milestone (dating back to Roman times!)

Me neither. People here celebrate big milestones like 10, 20, 25, etc...years of marriage but not 12.5.
My paternal grandparents were fortunate enough to celebrate their 50 years anniversary Hug though they married 'late' for their generation (they were 27 and 34 on their wedding day on the late 40's)

It seems to be specific to some European countries, such as Netherlands and Denmark. I am  used to 12,5 -25 & 50 years celebrations (mostly with a party)

My parents were also about 27 years old on their wedding day. They hope to reach their 50th wedding anniversary in ca 5 years. My parents celebrated their 40th small with children and grandchildren.
