I'm really sad to hear this. They were very close and I really feel for Marie and her family.

May she rest in peace.

Oh, how sad for Marie  Shocked I hope she could spend some time with her before she slipped away. It seemed that Marie adored her grandmother, and I'm glad that her grandmother was able to see both great-grand children before she passed. RIP.

They were really close judging by their interactions. And Marie was holding her hand in the wedding pictures Hug

here's a 3-something minute video of Marie entering the church, you can see Baronesse Odile de Sairign? in the background.

Little Prince Henrik touching gift from great-grandmother
Princess Marie's 91-year-old grandmother could not be present at the baptism - she was nevertheless indirectly.

Princess Marie's 91-year-old grandmother, Baroness Odile de Sairign?, was not able to be at the little Prince Henrik's christening in M?gelt?nder Church. Yet she had been a loving and unforgettable imprint on the day by giving the little prince a very special gift.

The gift was given to Princess Marie when she, Prince Joachim and Little Prince Henrik visited her a couple of weeks ago in the south of France to show their young son to his great-grandmother.

The gift is a medallion of gold, as Princess Marie could give the prince the neck of the day of baptism. Princess Marie's beloved grandmother was indirectly in the church with him. The small medallion is engraved with a cross and a lamb, a symbol of blessing.

She passed almost a year to the month...in November 2015, Marie cancelled a bunch of engagments and rushed to France to be with her grandmother. I believe they thought then, she might not make it.

BT writes today that, "The Royal Family has previously indicated to BT that Prince Joachim and Princess Marie will spend this week some Autumn days at Schackenborg castle. There the flag had been at half mast on the occasion of Princess' loss all day long."

Sorry to hear about the death of Marie's grandmother.  Sad and difficult moment for her and the family.

It's nice to know that they still have a connection with Schackenborg and spend time there

I loved that photo.  It was so sweet and beautiful.  I'm glad she lived long enough to see her granddaughter marry and have children.

What sad news for Marie and her family. My heart goes out to them at this time.

I love the wedding picture with them holding hands. What a beautiful memento of their loving bond.
