The Norwegian royal ladies display their own (lack of) feeling and understanding of fashion. Often a miss, but sometimes a hit.

To start with, Sonja's love for yellow (with some dresses being repeated very, very, very often):

The gown in the first picture is beautiful.  Sonja looks good in classic styles with clean lines, but she has an unfortunate fondness for frills.

IMO Sonja has the more classical look and she can get away with things (at time) her DIL can't.

The problem with MM is also that "the package" is wrong. Maxima was often a mess (especially the hair) but she was so involved and had such a happy aura that she got away with it. MM cried "wolf" too often by her being "pretend sick" which gave the impression she did not like the job she had. Then she often has that resting bitch face and does not seem involved. Then her hair is very often a total mess with all the dark roots. And then the clothes.

MM needs to realize (whether she likes it or not) - she is bascially a business woman. Her business is it to represent Norway. There is not much space for unfitting and unsuitable clothes. She needs to get a stylist asap and leave the curtains she has been wearing on the windows.

In 2a and 2b she looks so chic...for a change.

Here though she reminds me of this one
