Brittany Higgins - out of the frying pan into the fire?

Fellow Aussies - I'm deeply worried about Brittany Higgins decamping to rural France with her (pretty recent) partner. I know David Sharaz to be shady (ask his ex wife), and I also know he doesn't have the means to fund holidays in the Maldives for himself.
Who is protecting her compensation money from a wastrel gambler of a partner?  Frankly, 1.6 million pounds is NOT enough to fund the expensive clothes and shoes they are wearing, and serial expensive holidays (four this year and counting).
It's looking like a classic "dodgy male partner" scenario; David Sharaz basicallly got her into the mess that followed the events in Parliament House, by turning the circumstances into a political hit job.
He is showing all the signs of a puppet master.
Why on Earth are they in an isolated village in the south of France, so far from Brittany's family and friends?
Troubling.

When I read that staff have been hired for the house in France, I though the money will be run through inside of a year at this rate. I totally get that she might need a break from all the media, but seems that this is more isolation. Major red flags for me.

His ex wife is schtum but I know from friends of hers that he gambled away her savings. That marriage lasted less than two years. Or until the money ran out.  She was of course  utterly devastated. I saw her trying to pick up the pieces on social media but it was clearly a struggle. One of the problems about her “dignified silence” is that Brittany’s family may not even know about his recent past.
Samantha Maiden knows the whole story for sure. I have no doubt women in the media are keeping a close eye out for Brittany’s welfare…

Sorry to see this. I know nothing about him other than that he has seemed like a loyal partner. I rang Linda Reynolds'office to complain about her vicious and toxic campaign against Ms Higgins.

I watched much of the court case evidence and I will be interested to see how the judge will manage to arrive at a decision. Both sides told egregious lies - including Higgins. The journalist Wilkinson showed herself to be shonky. The compensation looks to have been awarded in haste for a successful political hit job well done.
