At least one part of the family keeps contact and sincere friendship with the extended DRF.

We've seen Marie with Sussie, and also Joachim & Marie having the Rosenborg family at several official events.

Princess Marie opened the major international BIGMUN conference at the Birker?d Gymnasium. The event serves as a fictitious UN conference, where students from around the world meet to discuss and learn about international politics. The various debates follows the same protocols and procedures as the real UN, which means that conference participants get a deeper understanding of the international political environment. But it is also a good basis for forging friendships across schools and countries through cultural and academic enrichment. Students can look forward to having debates of high quality and committed delegates.

One of the participants is David ellebye from "Year 0", and he looked especially forward to the royal visit.

- "Of course it is good that our conference has generated interest in our monarchy. I myself am very active in politics, and it is important that young people show an interest in politics", says David ellebye to RoyalDish.

- "And it is important to express themselves and debate internationally", Princess Marie totally agrees.

She concluded her speech in English with the words:

- "Enjoy these days and build strong friendships, for it is your personal network, living and working around the world."

Marie is opening the exhibition "Spring in Tonder"

Princess Marie was in high spirits at the opening of the fair Spring in Tonder, and the beautiful spring weather rubbed off on the royal guest.

- "It is wonderful. See the sun is shining and there is always good weather in Southern Jutland", exclaimed the princess excited on the way home after the visit in Tonder Sport and Leisure.

Princess Marie opened the fair in the four halls, which were filled with 80 local shops and companies that exhibited their products.

On her tour of the fair Princess Marie met local merchants, that she clearly remembered from the years when she lived at Schackenborg Castle in M?geltonder. At several of the stands the princess was offered a taste of the local specialties, especially the homemade biscuits with students from EUC Syd fell in the royal guest's taste.

I'm pleased to see her still involved with Tonder.  I think she has a fondness for that area, especially since the festival was her first patronage.

Does anybody know if Jokke and Marie still own the bed and breakfast in that town?

March 9
Marie opens the exhibition "Pissarro. A meeting to St. Thomas"
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Denmark's sale of the West Indies exhibits museum Ordrupgaard works of artist Fritz Melbye and Camille Pissarro are displayed in the exhibition "Pissarro. A meeting to St. Thomas." The exhibition shows paintings, sketches and drawings and can be seen up to 2 July 2017.

Is there a connection between the Danish Golden Age and French Impressionism? On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Denmark's sale of The West Indies put Ordrupgaard spot on the meeting between the Danish Golden Age painter Fritz Melbye and the recent 'father' of French Impressionism, Camille Pissarro in the Danish West Indies. The exhibition Pissarro. A meeting to St. Thomas presents new art historical material that will turn upside down the most understanding of Impressionism beginning.

Camille Pissarro (1830-1903) is known as one of the most important figures in French Impressionism, but few know that a Danish Golden Age painter played an important role in the origin of Impressionism. With the exhibition Pissarro. A meeting to St. Thomas tells Ordrupgaard story of Pissarro's youth and how the Danish Golden Age painter Fritz Melbye (1826-1869) became crucial to Pissarro's life and art.

A Dane in Caribbean
Camille Pissarro grew up as a Danish citizen on the island of St. Thomas in the Danish West Indies and around 1850 arrived Fritz Melbye also St. Thomas. Melbye was marine and landscape painter, and came to 'the new world' to seek inspiration. The two young artists became friends, and soon began working together. On Melbye's request left the two together Danish West Indies in 1853, and went to Caracas in Venezuela, where they established joint studio.

An equal cooperation
In Caracas they worked two artists closely, and four years older Melbye had a great influence on the then only 22-year-old Pissarro. Their collaboration was a counterpoint to contemporary more traditional 'teacher-elev' ratio when Melbye rather was a mentor than a master of Pissarro. Two years lasted Pissarro and Melbye partnership in the Danish West Indies and Venezuela. Then put Pissarro course towards Europe, while Melbye remained the adventurous in the 'new world'.

Impressionism father
In Paris were Camille Pissarro become a key figure in one of art history's most groundbreaking innovations - Impressionism. Pissarro often referred to as the 'father of Impressionism' and in his impressive career he painted closely with artists such as Paul C?zanne, Paul Gauguin and Georges Seurat. The special artistic collaboration, which he through Melbye had inherited from the Danish Golden Age art, should continue his work with these younger colleagues.

Into Impressionism
Pissarro. A meeting to St. Thomas presents an extensive number of early works by Pissarro and Melbye from their years together in the Danish West Indies and Venezuela. With these paintings, sketches and drawings on loan from museums and collections around the world, the exhibition shows how Pissarro built on his experience from the early years of apprenticeship with Melbye as mentor and how he took these lessons into Impressionism.

Pissarro for children
As part of the exhibition Pissarro. A meeting to St. Thomas , children and young people take with Pissarro and Melbye journey of discovery through the exciting children's universe Humboldt wild jungle workshop built around the two artists many pictures from the Caribbean jungle. Children's room is a part of Ordrupgaard new concept where famous artists reinterpreted in a vibrant sensory universe. The room follows the experience the universe Monet's magical garden from the exhibition Monet. Out of impressionism , and Alexander Reich Steins installation At Home from 2014, where curious visitors could explore Carl and Karin Larsson's Swedish artist home.
