I  think Letizia gravitates toward children (and children towards her). Nevermind in public events, where imo she lights up and zooms in on babies and kids, just consider her nephews and nieces in law and how they interact. From the very begining the Marichalar children have obviously felt very confortable with her, from the day of her wedding holding Felipe's hand (and her own niece) to her special relationship with his sister Victoria as seen in Lord G¡ns links.

And as seen in lula's video Irene plays with her cousin and her aunt warmly and without problems, something someone wouldn't do if they didn't love kids, they would let the two girls play on their own.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5NvK6_emLg

On the other hand Elena and Cristina have never paid attention to their brother's daughters in public (their own blood relatives, unlike Letizia's relationship with their children).
When Leonor debuted at the Princess of Asturias Awards Letizia's parents and sister were present, even one of Felipe's cousins (who is pretty close to F&L) attended with her husband and daughter. Neither JC (back then he wasn't under the cloud of financial scandal) who not only was her grandfather but also her godfather nor Elena attended to support Leonor. (And of course there was no Cristina, but nobody expected her to show up)

Letizia's personality comes alive with kids.  She kneels down to their level, interacts, gives a caress, plays with.   She engages.

I don't know Letizia apart from the news we get about her institutional role but one of the things I really like about her is how she inteacts with small kids specially when the are sick.  Kids don't lie and the way she relates to them and they respond tells me how much she cares about them and the issues she's pushing hard in her role.

I also only know her from work videos etc. but I do not have the sense that she is a 'children' person at all. Of course not that she does not like, but I always have the sense that Leti is interested in the adults from a journalist view ('tell me your interesting story') and yes she goes down to a child's level to talk but she is not engaging in a child-friendly way (I am not explaining well - perhaps because she was so strict about the behaviour of Leonor and Sofía etc. and I am very suspicious of pictures of kissing babies on the walkabouts).

Mariola, like Clara says there are multitude of occassions when Letizia has been playing with Irene, giving a hand to Victoria when she was younger/wearing Letizia's shirt when she was older, to be only focussed on kissing babies walkabouts.  I wish Cristina and Elena were as warm with Leonor and Sofia as Letizia has been with their daughters, they never were.  They've been awful in public, never a warm gesture, never a simple hand on their shoulder or a caress to demonstrate they care about their nieces.  Always a coldness that's not normal.

To say that you are suspicious of Letizia not liking kids because she's so strict with her daughers is ridiculous. The "strict controlling mother" is a creation of a certain press that never liked Letizia.  Reality is that both Leonor and Sofia have a loving relationship with their parents and Letizia and Felipe have tried their best to protect them from the awful Spanish yellow press.

Letizia truly comes alive with kids.  If you don't believe it, there are plenty of videos available.

Just one more thing on this issue...

It's unbelievable that Elena has always been missing from Leonor's milestones as a royal.  She was not there when Leornor received the Toison, she was not there when Leonor made her first speech in Princess of Asturias Awards.  Leonor's maternal family were all there....there was no excuse for Elena not to be there except she didn't want to be.

Her treatment of her niece publicly has been awful and shameful, specially when Letizia has always been so inclusive of her children.

I did not say this. Ever. Please do not twist what I have said, it is quite upsetting.

I have no doubts that Leti likes children. I was trying - however poorly I have said it - to say that maybe she does not have the same comfort-level with children as e.j. Duchess Catherine and DC will not have the same comfort-level with politicians etc. as Leti. And mentioning politicians I always associate baby-kissing with their foto-opps and so I don't trust it.

The clips and fotos and videos of Leti with family are very nice, thank you.  I was trying to write about work visits , not family. And the strictness with the girls was also about work appearances etc.

Always love this dress. Some colors (not always black and white) are good.

I like the colours but not the dress because the big elastic (I think it is called ruched?) middle reminds me of the dresses I was wearing when 11/12/13 years.

Since she is super thin, the elastic middle was not an issue on her.  Fight against skin cancer ?  Perhaps she just stopped fake tanning since it gave an image of sunbathing all year long  Wink.

Most girls of 11/12/13 are slim so it is not for that. I just find the style too young for her but the colours are pretty.

The dress is pretty, wavy shorter hair is so much better than straight one parted on the middle  Wink.

Concert of the National Orchestra and Choir of Spain, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of cancer research of the Spanish Association Against Cancer.

Although his attendance was not planned, King Felipe has accompanied her.

The orchestra played "Happy Birthday"

Black bra, Leti!  Black bra!!!

Very cool dress and a gorgeous ponytail, but the whole look is ruined by the sight of her nude bra...and not just a hint of it, but basically the whole thing!  How is the dress that poorly lined?
