Looks like a good visit and I'm really glad the Royal Foundation has been providing resources to help Olena Zelensky's mental health project.

As for her clothes the coat is a rewear from a few weeks ago and the dress is £279 from LK Bennet which is a high street brand so whilst it's not particularly inspiring or my cup of tea it's not breaking the bank either.

It is not breaking the bank, not even considering that the bank of Cornwall is loaded. But she has already two or three dark navy blouse-dresses, midi-length with a fuller skirt that have whitish small polka dots. They look way too similar to warrant yet another dress. She might not consider economics, but that is excessive buying in a world striving for sustainability.

It's true that she has other very similar dresses and probably other blue and yellow outfits she could have worn. I was just countering the idea that it was an entire new and expensive outfit.

I actually hope that things she wears once and knows she will never wear again either in public or private are given to charity shops but I don't know how likely that is. I can't fathom a never ending expanding wardrobe for decades.

Ah but those other dresses (Hi, Alessandra Rich!) aren't vaguely yellowish so she can't pay subtle tribute to the Ukrainian flag. 

I guess it just isn't a good look (A) with the current economic situation and (B) when she goes on to say that she wishes there were more she could do.  I've been on this board long enough to know that she can't just sign over one of her 4 residences to house refugees, but it's still a frustrating thing to hear her say.  Why wasn't this an Impact Day with a financial donation?

What you don't know & I don't know is the politics of the situation. There are signals you can't send and colors you can't wear if you are trying to be as neutral as possible in a compassionate visit. It is a delicate dance of signals when you represent a country, though you have no political power.

Sorry, senior fog here ... do you mean a growth in the number of children who are not meeting their developmental milestones or a decline in the number of children who are meeting their developmental milestones.

In my opinion it has been occurring for a number of years,  but I  and fellow colleagues really saw an increase after 2010 when more adults were able to own devices that could access the internet.  Too many children are being handed devices to entertain them all the time. There is a noticeable decline in fine motor skills ,  receptive and expressive communication and play skills. The number of children who are not fully toilet trained. Is also on the rise.

Personally  and I realize this will be controversial , but I see an increase in the number of parents who are abdicatiing their parenting responsibilities to the schools.

I agree, TLLK, and my experience is that the schools are then abdicating it to tech, which means that kids are being educated by the ad-paying corporations.  Hmmmm … how scary is that?

Schools have become full time childcare for children with a bit of education thrown in IMO. When i was little school ended at 3.30pm and that was that unless you maybe played in a sports team and stayed on for training. Now schools offer after school clubs until 4.30 or so regularly and then provide after school care until 6pm when parents can pick up. Add to that children being dropped off at breakfast clubs from 7.30am onwards and many children are spending longer in school than their parents spend in work. I know a few parents who even go home have a nice dinner together and then come to collect their children at 6pm.

Add to that the focus on "child initiated" play which at it most extremes means children can't be told what to do and everything must be focussed only on "their interests" - because why should 3, 4 and 5 year olds be introduced to concepts outside of their own fascination- and you have a recipe for disaster IMO.

What worries me about this a little is people have quite strong opinions on EY education and different methods and the like - it would be unwise IMO for Catherine to get too involved in that.
