Prince Constantijn is participating in the National Reading Breakfast for the first time this year. With his presence, the prince and the organization behind the event specifically want to encourage fathers to read aloud this year, reports the book association CPNB.
According to the CPNB, mothers still play a greater role in reading education. They read aloud more often and undertake more activities such as talking about books or going to the library together. To inspire fathers, fathers and parent duos are invited as readers during the Reading Breakfasts.

Constantijn accompanies his wife, Princess Laurentien, who has been involved in the National Reading Breakfast in recent years. The couple will read aloud on January 22 at the Schiedam Library in the Korenbeurs. Herman van der Zandt, Rick Paul van Mulligen and Diederik Jekel, among others, will also read at various schools in the country on that day.

The princely couple will read from Rinus by Ingrid and Dieter Schubert. A committee of librarians, booksellers and teachers has chosen that book as Picture Book of the Year. The children's book is about the little rhinoceros Rinus and his strong and tough grandfather.

The National Reading Days will take place this year from 22 January to 1 February.
