I love this event - it's always so over the top!

Caroline - I like the dress but ONLY for this occasion, sort of fancy dress gone mad. Hair and make up looking good.

Charlotte looks good in Caroline's old dress - way better than last year's nylon jumpsuit thing.

Beatrice looks amazing and well done to her.

It would have been nice to see Alexandra there.

The Saudi princess looks nice in that bubble gum pink.

instead of have a theme for the soiree which makes this gala grotesque, they should put in the center one  project concretized par this foundation, and the team that concretized it

I prefer the Red Cross  gala, it is more classy and not grotesque as the Bal de La Rose,   all is already full in february , the gala takes place in july

Caro's dress is largely inspired by Emilia Fl?ge's dresses, a turn of the century Vienna fashion designer and companion of Gustav Klimt.

When taking a closer loook at the first picture, you notice that even the jewellery is copied.
Considering the theme of the night, Caro hits the target. At least she's no bore!

Oh, you mean like it's okay to fat-shame women?   Thumb down  Sorry, but the guy is trash.  Nothing but trash.

And judging by his more recent work, he's also not very talented.

Actually I found Caroline's dress to be interesting, amusing and chic, in a peculiar way. It reminded me very much of some of the over-the-top black-and-white costumes worn for the Ascot race scene in ``My Fair Lady'' that were designed by Cecil Beaton. (Incidentally, the dress that Audrey Hepburn wore in that scene sold for $3.7 million at auction in 2011).

The dress did play an interesting homage to Emilie Fl?ge, who was herself a fashion designer in the era of the  Wiener Werkst?tte. I have loved the textiles and some of the fashions from that era. You can see images of some of the fashions of the era at the link below. A number of the designs are in black and white, as is the case with Caroline's Lagerfeld frock.

I infinitely prefer Caroline's dress to that pink prom-dress monstrosity sported by Princess Barbie at the same event.

Your mileage may vary, of course.

I think Caroline's dress can be as artsy as it is supposed to be but to me it is atrociously horrible. The tulle frills are so horrendous they look like a joke.
I'm not a fan of the bubblegum flamenco nightmare worn by Barbie, but if I had to choose between them i'd go certainly go pink. Smiley

After looking at all the pictures the only things I like are Beatrice's earrings. Gorgeous!
But Beatrice herself is the less worst clothed of the bunch.

Thank you to those who explaIned the inspiration for Caroline's dress, Ms Floge's designs are VERY interesting.

In context, Caroline just about manages to carry it off, although my first thought was "YIKES"! Wink

I love Charlotte's dress (which is rare for me), & think I like what I see of Beatrice's.
