^Wow! Looks very similar at least.

I wonder if royals have some sort of vault for old clothes because it is amazing how many outfits they have kept and can still wear! I also believe clothes were of better quality in the past so you could keep them for decades and decades.

Also the fact that many of these clothes are designer/couture, so are a "cut above" anyway (pardon the pun!)

Perhaps they do have better storage for them, I know in the past people had temperature controlled storage for furs, so proper packing and storing of other clothes doesn't seem a stretch.

Look at Princess Anne, she is still wearing clothes she's had for 40 years or more!!

I don't have a problem with sharing clothes, even amongst the Middletons or Donaldsons..... there is a lot of pressure on royals to wear new clothes (some people can get quite miffed if they go to an event and see their fave royal in something they've seen before!) so why not spread the love??

I love seeing the little Swedish girls in their mums/auntys dresses

You would expect also that a lot of clothing would go out of fashion, but a lot of them are still very trendy and new in present times!

In some cases I think it coild be the "timeless" nature of good couture..... or the cyclical nature of fashion, like in Silvia/Vics spotty dress recently

Thanks for this thread and the photos, Principessa! Star  Very interesting.  Good job gathering and displaying the subject matter.  It's nice to see them and then to my own satisfaction evaluating which one I think wore it best.

One of the things that may make this multi-generational clothing-sharing possible is that the royals have staffs who take exquisite care of the clothing. Bet nothing ever ever lands in a heap on the floor or falls off the hanger into a puddle in the back of a closet.
