I love glencheck, houndstooth, plaid, tartan etc... but you have to be careful with both the colours and the matching. Some patterns look fabulous as a centerpiece with plain and neutral colours, others do well with matching colours in tones that either accent or match one of the colours in the pattern.
Some look good as a coat or dress others are better used in small doses.
Whenever this is done well, I really love the look, other times it just overwhelms the wearer.
