Pieter van Vollenhoven, husband of princess Margriet of the Netherlands, has again been diagnosed with skincancer.

Pieter van Vollenhoven once again has a form of skin cancer. At the husband of Princess Margriet, a melanoma has been established.
The tissue will soon be removed at the Dutch Cancer Institute / Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Hospital in Amsterdam, reports the Royal House on Tuesday.

Van Vollenhoven must therefore pass the official opening meeting of the Millingerwaard nature reserve on 31 May. State Secretary Van Dam will conduct the opening.

Van Vollenhoven  previously had skin cancer. In 2001, 2003 and 2006, malignant tissue was also removed. He could get home soon after the surgery almost every time.

Princess Margriet opens food forest for pygmy monkeys in Dutch (monkey) zoo Apenheul

Princess Margriet opened a new food forest for pygmy monkeys on Wednesday at the Apenheul zoo. In addition to the food forest, the new area also contains the largest insect wall in the world. The nature in the area and the insect wall will contribute to the local biodiversity in the area. Among other things, the wall attracts insects that the monkeys can snack on.

When I was little the Apenheul was a favorite spot for the annual schooltrips. A few years back I visited it again, after not having been there for many years. Still nice.

May 8 is International Day of the Red Cross. Princess Margriet is inextricably linked to this organization. For decades it has worked tirelessly for the world's largest aid network.

It all started in 1966: Margriet followed the training to become a helper first class of the Red Cross at the Lichtenberg hospital in Amersfoort and received her diploma this year. That way she could start her volunteer work.

From 1967, the princess also worked internationally for the Red Cross. From 1995 to 2003 she was even chair of the Standing Commission, the highest international body of the Red Cross.

From 1987 to 2011 she was Vice President of the Red Cross. The Princess Margriet Fund was set up in 2011 as a thank you for her efforts. The fund is committed to preparing people better for natural disasters.

Today the princess is honorary president of the Dutch Red Cross.

Like mother, like son
The apple does not fall far from the tree. Her (3rd) son Pieter-Christiaan is also committed to the organization. From 2010 to 2018 he was Vice President of the Red Cross. On his departure, he received the ambassadorship of the Princess Margriet Fund in return.

On November 20, Princess Margriet and Prof. Pieter van Vollenhoven participated with a video message in the virtual 39th edition of the Peter Stuyvesant Ball in New York.

The Peter Stuyvesant Ball (PSB) is an annual elegant and festive black-tie event, at which the NAF Patrons, HRH Princess Margriet of the Netherlands and Professor Pieter van Vollenhoven, are invited to join diplomatic envoys and influential leaders and friends of the Dutch-American community from both sides of the pond in support of the NAFs crucial and vital activities. The PSB is the single largest source of funding for the NAF, the foremost bilateral foundation initiating and supporting high-impact exchanges between the Netherlands and the United States.

Founded in 1921, the Netherland-America Foundation (NAF) is the leading bilateral foundation initiating and supporting high-impact exchange between the Netherlands and the United States.

Prince Pieter-Christiaan is the 3rd son of Princess Margriet and Prof Mr. Pieter van Vollenhoven.

Loosely translated as:

Prince Pieter-Christiaan satisfied with his time at the Berlin marathon

Prince Pieter-Christiaan of Orange-Nassau is still enjoying the Berlin marathon, which he ran on Sunday. On Instagram, the prince calls the event a "magnificent race". He was thrilled to see so many people coming to cheer on the riders.

Prince Pieter-Christiaan had a very difficult time on Sunday due to the sunny conditions.

"Between 29 and 36 kilometers it was quite suffering," writes the prince, who adds that he suffered from cramps.

The prince finished Sunday in a time of 3:26.19, more than four minutes above his time at the previous marathon in Berlin. Still, he is satisfied with it. "I have to be happy with the result, because I only knew I would participate in August."

Prince Pieter-Christiaan is a son of Princess Margriet and Pieter van Vollenhoven.

I would be absolutely THRILLED with a 3:26 marathon, especially if I only started training the month before it! It's very hard for Americans to get a spot in the Berlin Marathon, not sure how it is for Europeans but I would have to shave at least an hour off my PR and then have my name drawn through the registration lottery. Kudos to him for both qualifying and finishing very well!

Me personally am certainly not a runner. And yes, I have tried....
But I guess PC has trained constantly for marathons.
