Tema in Ghana is one of the many places SOS Children's Villages is committed to helping children grow up in a safe and loving family. Princess Margaret visited yesterday - on the first day of her visit to Ghana - Tema. The Princess will visit the country from 22 to 24 October as the patroness of SOS Kinderdorpen. Together with SOS Children's Villages Ambassador Jan Smit, she looks at the developments and results of the SOS Children' s Villages relief since their visit to Ghana in 2014. During her visit to children's village Tema, the Princess met the children who live there and engaged in their care. Young people told about their experiences and developments in children's village Tema. Following this, Princess Margriet visited an SOS family that does not live in a children's village but in the local community. She also visited a mother who received support from SOS Kinderdorpen, which allows her children to stay at home and go back to school. Today the Princess will visit among others children participating in a children's rights club in Asiakwa village and on Thursday she will return to Tema village. https://x.com/koninklijkhuis Her name is officially Margriet, but indeed an English translation of the name would be Margaret.

Margriet is one of my favorite royals. Duty and elegance. Definitely Queen Juliana's daughter.

On October 27, 1944, Canadian forces liberated Bergen op Zoom and the Brabantine Wal. This operation was part of the Battle of the Scheldt. The Battle of the Scheldt resulted in thousands of deaths, wounded and missing, including over 6,000 Canadians. https://x.com/koninklijkhuis

https://www.nu.nl/achterk...ver-vanwege-armbreuk.htmlLoosely translated as: Princess Margriet skips memorial trip to Canada due to broken arm
By our entertainment editors Apr 29, 2025 at 2:47 PM
Princess Margriet and Pieter van Vollenhoven are canceling their planned visit to Canada in May. The princess has not yet recovered sufficiently from a broken arm she sustained last month, the Government Information Service (RVD) reports.
The trip was scheduled from May 9 to 12 and would have been dedicated to eighty years of freedom. Visits to Ottawa and Toronto were among the things on the program. According to the RVD, the trip is "unfortunately not responsible at this time" given the princess's health situation.
The 82-year-old Margriet was injured during the Hollandse 100, a sporting event organized by her son Prince Bernhard. She fell on the ice rink in Thialf and broke her left arm.
According to the RVD, Princess Margriet attaches great value to the commemorations in Canada. The Princess has often publicly emphasized the importance of Canada's contribution to the liberation of the Netherlands during the Second World War.
