Tema in Ghana is one of the many places SOS Children's Villages is committed to helping children grow up in a safe and loving family. Princess Margaret visited yesterday - on the first day of her visit to Ghana - Tema. The Princess will visit the country from 22 to 24 October as the patroness of SOS Kinderdorpen. Together with SOS Children's Villages Ambassador Jan Smit, she looks at the developments and results of the SOS Children' s Villages relief since their visit to Ghana in 2014.

During her visit to children's village Tema, the Princess met the children who live there and engaged in their care. Young people told about their experiences and developments in children's village Tema. Following this, Princess Margriet visited an SOS family that does not live in a children's village but in the local community. She also visited a mother who received support from SOS Kinderdorpen, which allows her children to stay at home and go back to school.

Her name is officially Margriet, but indeed an English translation of the name would be Margaret.

Margriet is one of my favorite royals. Duty and elegance. Definitely Queen Juliana's daughter.

On October 27, 1944, Canadian forces liberated Bergen op Zoom and the Brabantine Wal. This operation was part of the Battle of the Scheldt. The Battle of the Scheldt resulted in thousands of deaths, wounded and missing, including over 6,000 Canadians.
