Actually, she was / is the right match for that bloke Andrew. And considering what kind of dorks these two are,  Bea and Eug turned out pretty nice. They are really cursed with their parents.

And yes, the belt buckle ... After having squeezed herself into the dress without tearing it into pieces, she was so euphoric that she didn't care for the trivia anymore.

Poor Sarah, she will never learn, just like Waity. I pity Beatrice and Eugenie having those two are parents

Fergie, with all her exaggerated expressions, reminds me of Kate.

I agree - I've always thought that Kate is the new Fergie.  Over the top, exaggerated, so 'try hard' that gestures seem unreal and/or clown-like.  With Fergie, I think it's her personality - she's annoying but true to herself.  With Kate, everything seems rather fake and insincere.

There's a lot of dishing on Kate going on - do remember she belongs in her own threads only, unless she's present - which she isn't here..

You're right, sorry for that.  As the thread is called 'Royal Ascot 2017', I thought anyone who attended any day could be discussed. I realise now that it each day is being discussed separately.  Blush

I have to say I haven't been impressed with any of the Royal ladies, save HM's, fashion this year. Most of them look like they took a tumble in the hay prior to attendance.

Oh, good grief! It's a good job Philip wasn't in the carriage to see his ex d-in-law waving at the Queen from the sidelines. He'd probably have to be carted away to hospital again on the spot! As a bright spot it's a good think Fergie's not been at the Botox or cosmetic surgeon.

So Philip is in the hospital and QEII spends 4 days at the horse racing track. No one thinks it's weird?  Whistle

Not really. I'm sure she's kept in touch. He was only in for an evening.

If I was stuck in the hospital for an evening/day I wouldn't care if my husband didn't visit me.

Fergie has been going to Ascot for couple of years now when Philip was in the carriage. I think he just avoids her.

Hmmm maybe that's why he took himself to hospital... Laugh bounce

Seriously though The Queen and Philip are not from that generation where they need to be with each other every day for the other to know they love each other. We often hear that one is at BP or Windsor while the other is at Balmoral or Sandringham. Really it is no different from that in a lot of way.
To me the fact The Queen didn't visit him, as she has done in the past, shows it was not a massively concerning problem he had.
I'm sure Philip, known for his 'no fuss' approach would rather the Queen, for whom Royal Ascot is probably her favourite event, would be there having fun than sitting in a hospital room with him. Racing has always been more the Queen's passion than his.

It seemed like it was more for inpatient treatment than an actual life threatening emergency, first of all. So, no. I don't think it's weird that she spent the week at Ascot. Frankly, I'm not anywhere close to being from that generation & Lord W would have insisted I not miss out on a much loved event too, which I imagine is what Philip insisted upon & how do we know she didn't pop in briefly in the evening in the first place.

Yikes  holy smokes fergie was never a beauty but WTH!  First off,  women of a certain age shouldn't do the raccoon eyes thing, it makes everything more droopy.  Second of all that red hair is too bright, too brassy and totally works against her skin tone, plus a natural lip color would do wonders to tone down the clown look.  WOW just WOW
