There are 3 Kennedy women that aged just as badly, Eunice, Patricia, and Jean.

^^ The Kennedys had that rangy, rather bony sort of look, though, that favoured the males of the family more than the females, IMO, even when they were young.

Except for Teddy, who had a distinct tendency toward chunkiness.

She was sooo pretty!!

Yes but yikes the eyebrows!  Shocked

This is totally off topic but I am bothered by the fact that I could swear I've seen the sofa Birgitta is sitting on at my parents-in-laws' living room.  Thinking My mother-in-law is a major hoarder so nothing surprises me anymore but if she has managed to visit a palace in Sweden and stuff a sofa in her purse, I have much more respect for the lady!  Crazy  Laugh bounce

I discovered we had an own thread for dear old Aunt Magda and thought it could use an update

Here she is visiting Florida some weeks ago, where she was given a tour of Myrtha Barris' new art school in Palm Beach Gardens

She also gave an interview to Svensk Damtidning. I couldn't find any translation of the article, but she seems to be doing well and enjoying life  Cool

Ooh thanks for this!  Banana  Champagne I love Birgitta, she seems like a really nice lady.

It was a bit difficult to read such tiny text but she tells interesting things about her childhood and teenage years and her life in general. She says their nanny said she and Desiree were "permanently in love" as teenagers and tells how she was a "Daddy's girl" because she is so much like her father. Their father died when she was ten and remembers how he loved to play with his children and would teach them how to skate and ride horses. He would also let them ski after his car (don't know how but apparently something like "waterskiing") and stand on the step board of his car while he was driving around the castle park which made Princess Sibylla mad. Sibylla raised the five kids mostly alone after Edmund died so she says their mother was perhaps a bit too strict with her upbringing.

She talks about how she fell in love suddenly with Hansi and how in the end it didn't work out between them as she loved sports and he would say "you and your stupid sports". He also hated warm weather and sun. She says she is very shy, like her brother too, and turns into a "stiff stick" when at public events. She says so does her brother but he has to just deal with it.

She says Estelle is very much like Victoria and tells how she visited Solliden for the first time in decades when it was Vic's birthday and Estelle ran after her when she had to leave and jumped into her lap. In the article she is visiting friends in Florida but says she misses home and enjoys being alone at home too.

I've found bits and pieces and old interviews from this year that tell more about her.

Thanks, Suze!  Star  Birgitta seems like a lot of fun. It's a pity we don't hear from her more often!

It seems not too many people are interested in Birgitta and her life anymore but it's great anyway to hear from her from time to time.

We'll see more of Aunt Magda in December when Carl Philip goes to Hong Kong. There's a gala dinner on December 6th where she is also participating as the official Patron of the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in Sweden.  Smiley

Saw this on Twitter:

Princess Birgitta wonít attend the christening of Prince Gabriel this Friday. She didnít attend the christening of Prince Alexander either.  She left Sweden today and will return next week. Birgitta said she received the invitation late.

Why so late with Birgitta's invitation?  We know from the Christening thread that they were apparently sent 23 October.   Thinking

I like Birgitta, she gets it.

She didn't go to Nicolas' christening either, did she? And also not to Leonore and Oscar's christenings. And she declined the invitation to Alexander's because she had a golf tournament to attend instead

I get the feeling Birgitta doesn't care much for the royal hoopla. And why should she? Golfing in Mallorca is probably a lot more fun.

Thanks Lady A.  I only included what Twitter said - you are absolutely right to point out that she didn't go to the other Christenings.  And I fully agree about the hoopla.  I like that she sees life beyond the hoopla  Thumb up

She also has her own kids and grandkids. How many people necessarily go to their grandnieces/nephews's christenings? Especially when you live in another country.
