I'm going to see The Last Jedi on Thursday and I'm so excited  Jumping

I managed to remain spoiler-free for now...though I have some theories after watching  the last movie in 2015. They are probably all wrong though

Parisian theaters will be a nightmare this week. Sooo, I'll go next week, between the first rush and the Christmas holidays rush.

This week Murder on the Orient Express, it will be quieter. Wink

have you read that, after the london premiere, star wars cast got to kensington palace to celebrate?

i liked that harry and william went to the premiere without their ladies.

william wearing velvet "slippers" was very much channelling flavio briatore, which made me laugh.😎🇮🇹

My son is currently working as an Intern for Disney...working on the Star Wars franchise. Being 'just' the intern he watched his boss etc etc head off to the Royal Albert Hall last night dressed up in their Dinner Jackets and finery whilst he was left at the office.  He was mighty jealous!! (He did get a t-shirt though)

However he DOES know things about the movie (obviously!) but cannot even speak about it "for legal reasons".

Looking forward to Thursday when we are all heading off to the IMAX !!

So I'm just back from the theater....

AND IT GOES STRAIGHT TO MY FAVOURITES  just my humble opinion  Tongue

Some questions were answered but other asked in this movie !
Not a second of bore during the 2 hours and a half ! and many twists too !

Mark Hamill was absolutely great, such a pleasure to watch him at least!
Carrie Fisher : I had tears in my eyes every time she appeared on screen  Cry
Shame on me, I didn't recognize Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern at first glance  Blush I had to stay for the credits at the end to know.

Loved BB8 so much, he totally rocks  Thumb up and the Porgs are both cute and funny

Now onto spoilers ... just highlight below text to read.

I enjoyed Kylo Ren much more this time. ( on a different note : the shirtless scene with Rey had me giggling, thinking about the Reylo fans reaction !
I don't believe what he said to Rey concerning her parents being barely humble people who actually sold her. as a child. I watched the French dubbed version so maybe the actual terms he used were different but the meaning is probably the same.

Luke at the end : majestic AF !
The fight between Rey, Kylo Ren and Snoke's bodyguards was perfect to me !

Have you noticed the Jedi Books were actually not burnt but saved ? They are shown at the end in the Resistance base. IMO Rey certainly stole them before leaving Achto.
On a personal note : as a former librarian and archivist myself, keeping paper books inside a tree on a very wet, windy and cold island is not the best solution for their conservation...

I'm still processing it. It was so awesome!! One of my favorites to, the magic of the 2nd  Banana Banana Banana

Mark Hamill and Adam Driver were amazing! Carrie  Cry

Now the spoilers, same as Elissa - just highlight below text to read.

Kylo Ren became one of my favorite Star Wars villan. Damn! With Rian's writting and the awesome Adam Driver, the character turned pretty perfect imo. His conflit, his complexity. That's a villian! And I still get the impression that you don't know how he will turn out in the end. I think he is so committed in becoming a Master of the Dark side that he's surrounding himself with light (Luke's words on kill me now and I'll never abandon you, like your father). I wonder if in the end he will go batsh** crazy or will have some redeeming moment.

I think the shirtless scene was a massive trolling to all Reylo fans ahahah Priceless. But in this movie, Daisy and Adam have lots of chemistry, they would be an amazing team! You saw that in their fight with the guards and their scenes when they did that mental connection.

I saw it in english and the impression listening the original version, Rey confirms what Kylo says about her parents. So, that mistery is solved imo.

Snoke's dead was so "WTH", love it! Him bragging about being the most amazing thing ever, only to die in the most ridiculous way (that close up, when you see his face with the tong out lololol).

Di you noticed Hux reaching for something right before Kylo awakes? It looked like a light saber Shocked Speaking of Hux, General Hugs  Laughing Laughing Laughing

Luke was out of this world! Mark's bada** look when he cames out of the smoke curtain to flight Kylo.  As Elissa said, magestic! His final scene, looking at the two moons got me crying like a baby Cry Cry

The books are inside the Millenium Falcon Wink

The soundtrack was so unique! John Williams is a true genious!

Loved the humor. Spot on! And evil BB8 ahahahahahah

So, I really disliked it. A lot. SPOILERS BELOW (I can't get the text to be light enough it seems)

SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS

Its weird because it was entertaining, but it felt extremely disconnected from the arcs, characterizations and emotion of
The Force Awakens. All of the characters felt OOC. I thought it was weird that they bundled all of the characters of color into a storyline that literally went...nowhere? like it had such little value. Finn's storyline and Poe's were just a mess. I loved the addition of Rose though.

This movie felt like a filler. It was reported that Abrams and Johnson did not consult together and so Rian Johnson literally wrote his script with no care for the arcs developed in TFA. That was very apparent in this movie because nothing actually progressed the overall plot. It felt like a lot of filler and a mishmash of ideas.

Rey? Like WTF? Also, Kylo? Why did the Temple story seem to diverge so much from the flashbacks we had in TFA? No background on Snoke? Rey's parents: was Ben/Kylo lying? That last part can easily be dealt with in the next installment so it wasn't a huge sticking point for me.

Kyle still feels like an emo child who is throwing a tantrum because someone spilled his juice. I agree that him and Rey have great chemistry and I thnk Adam Driver is very talented. I just think he is a pathetic villain. There is potential there, but not really realized IMO. I LOVED Rey's and Kylo's joint battle.

Music was amazing, as always.

They totally changed Luke's characterization. I read several interviews that Hamill wasn't happy with how Luke was written and I dismissed it, but I totally understand now. My favorite part was Luke's "battle" with Kylo/Ben, that felt true to some of the spirit of the character. Hamill himself was AMAZING! I never felt he was the greatest actor and i felt often that Han Solo/Harrison Ford just stole the show in the originals, but I loved Hamill in this. The end scene (even tho I HATED having Luke die when I feel like that storyline was underdeveloped) was stunning and I had tears.

I think this trilogy lacks the really strong charisma and chemistry of the original trio. I think there is potential, but this movie didn't explore it well enough.

So yeah, I went in with extremely high hopes and excitement and came out...very unsure and then that slowly morphed into extreme disappointment. TFA had its problems, but it felt true to the original spirit of the universe. TLJ doesn't.

WH you nailed how I feel. That it is disjointed and not connected at all to TFA. It's just there and it answers nothing, provides nothing, doesn't push the plot forward at all and what IS the plot because it is so different from what we left out on with TFA?!

AGAIN SPOILERS BELOW; READ WITH CAUTION

There was definitely GREAT moments in the film. I also wasn't against more gritty Luke. I just do not for one second believe he would do that to his nephew. I also hate that we didn't get more reaction to Han's death from Luke.

I like the turning some tropes on its head i.e. hair-brained plan miraculously worked...I just think those inversions were very poorly done. I think meditating on failure (with Luke, with Finn/Rose/Poe) is great, but again, execution was not good. I was actually happy Kylo didn't turn good suddenly and this movie did make him more interesting to me. But he still seems immature. But room for growth

The reunion scene with Luke/Leia/Carrie/Mark had me in tears, but it felt like an after thought.

I just feel it was very weak storyline wise (so many plot holes). I am not someone who is hyper critical of movies and I was also not someone who was invested in the wild fan theories out there before the movie. I went in kinda expecting anything to happen, but it was just not a great movie. As I said, it was "fun" but lacked the heart that made the series so beloved even with its faults.

I do like some of the subversion of ideas about the force, but I still think it dumb to make it something you just pick up with no training. Raw power is one thing, but to have training in it?

In the end, there is a lot of built in lore with SW, and I do not mean the books and comics. I mean just from the movies themselves. I feel like Kennedy doesn't respect that and as a result TLJ lacks that overall connection to me as a major fan. It was a bad movie for world-building.
