Can someone tell me if the half million pound wardrobe is paid by the tax payers?

The royal offical answer is no, it is paid for from Charles' duchy.

The thousand mile view is more complicated.  The duchy is not privately owned by Charles,  but belongs to the state.  Meaning without a royal family the earnings  would go to the government. So it's millions that Charles is earning and using to fund his family that the government allows him to keep (and pay back little taxes on)

Her 1st year figure is so absurd on its own and in comparison to many others that Charles has to be sh&&ing bricks if he’s paying for it. He has been reported to be very stingy with his money when he needs to spend it on others. I wonder if this astronomical figure has been reached because it’s coming from Harry’s money? The imherited money the Sussex’s have access to will be drained dry in short order if this pace continues.

Or she’s blowing through her money.  Her highest estimated net worth (which I doubt factors in taxes and 7 years of lived in Toronto) is $5m.  At $500,000 IDed by UFO that 10% of her highest estimated net worth.  Of course I’m guessing that she’s worth a quarter of that...which would make her spend 40% of what I think she’s worth.

Most budget planners say to spend 5% of your monthly budget on clothing.

That is absolutely disgusting. In no way could that spending ever be justified.

Agreed! The worst thing is that she seems to buy multiples of the same thing, and never wears them again

The irony is if she wore this dress with the beige coat and shoe versions of what she wore today it would look much more pulled together.  Lolipop

No 2 looks so much better, though I would have repeated a handbag and jewelry which would have brought the cost down to just the dress (US$138).  Goodness, in the last 2 days she's spent over $10,000 and I could have styled her for under $500.  Maybe I'm the game changer.

Star You are the game changer, Caroline! I'm sure you also would have made her look better than her classic "hot mess" signature or whatever she's going for

No, I'm betting she doesn't view water in the UK as ethically sourced. For my penny's worth, I hate those type of dressing gown dresses, they very rarely flatter the wearer. Today Meghan looks like a jumbled mess that's rolled straight out of a washing machine.

On the D&D news and events thread it's estimated at 4 hours based on Richard Palmer's tweets.  Still way too much when really all she need was a dress...though this on wasn't the best choice since is not really maternity.
