Meghan second on London Evening Standard survey for Most Influential Londoner 2018. First was the Home Secretary!

https://www.dailymail.co....al-London-power-list.html

This is hilarious! A woman who has done literally nothing of note or for other people gets a useless title of "Most influential" as voted by whom exactly? a committee of some top notch experts who got together and decided that someone with privileges not based on any merit or hard work should be one of the most influential Londoners? Gosh, it's embarrassing!

Their standards are awfully low if Meghan's on that list.

They have no standards if out of all the dynamic people in London she is on their list.

So we've now moved onto meaningless honors based on who she married.

The Emperor's New Clothes.

It really is pathetic, the level of sycophancy in this country still appalls me.  Even in this day and age when the general population is so indifferent to royalty stuff like this still happens which reinforces the rf belief that they are superior in some kind of way.

The royal encourage it.  If they don't, they lose the mystique that keeps them in power.

I mean, for real, Harry and Meghan throwing a ball was considered THE great success of a recent engagement.  Throwing a ball. It would be kind of sad if it wasn't so damn hilarious.  These two show up, their fans cheer and it's proof they are the game changers.

What next, Meghan declared by the corner shop to be the new Jesus?  Don't laugh.  It's coming.

Nowadays there are plenty of lists and awards and everyone has the chance to win some sort of honor. There are so many "stars" and "celebrities", all these people have to find their way to success. We know and they know that they're not all of them equally talented or interesting but the entertainment industry is a big one and lots of money are invested in the industry daily. So, all of them, artists, producers, clothe disigners, makeup artists, visual effects creators etc, all of them HAVE to maintain the status quo in order to keep having space to do their work and earn money. So, all these lists and awards doesn't truly indicate any kind of ability, only the need to keep up running in a crazy business where your name has to be brought up every day, in order for the artist (or whoever) keep being relative. So, Meghan being on this list or any kind of list, doesn't say a thing about her contribution or significance.

A Press Association photographer has won a couple of awards for his photo of Meghan walking down the aisle just as light struck her.

It is, indeed, a great photo and if the viewer ignores the guests and focuses only to the bride and the bishop (is he a bishop? ) it reminds of a medieval wedding ceremony.

That is indeed a lovely photograph and Sparkles should definitely thank him and get a copy for her wedding album but winning a press association prize, no way.

Well, if you look closer, what THIS Meghan picture won was (only) the "Best ROYAL picture of the year" subcategory of the Rota Price.

The picture competed, amongst others, with a pic of Prince Charles kissing a dog, Camilla & Judi Dench eating ice cream and Kate holding newborn Louis in front of Lindo Wing. Amongst all contenders, this Meg pic was maybe really the most artful - the photog was lucky to have exactly this light.

But from all entries for this subcategory, my choice would have been this:

It's titled "DoE's last solo engagement", and it has so much more story to it, imho. It is as if heaven cried for the end of an era, and him lifting his hat for good-be is so ... sad.

I have never seen that photo before Kaiserin, but I could not agree with you more.  Star

A lifetime of service vs. someone who happened to stand in the sun at the right time.

Meghan's photo is more art-y. But in a spooky way.  Very much like a ghost following the priest in a dark church.
