It was a very personal statement.She probably could have got away with “its being really horrible time but thanks for your condolences”  Its probably a bit of a relief to get it out of the way.

This moved me to tears. Maxima's love for her sister shined through, but also her compassion and strength. I lost one of my best friends to suicide three years and the pain is still fresh. The last week with the news of Bourdain (who I adored) and Spade plus Ines was very hard and brought back a lot of bad memories. I wish Maxima and the family nothing but love in this time. I am glad that the Dutch media, at least, seems to have been respectful.

It was said it was hard for Maxima because of her special bound with her only full blood sister, even if she was >10 years her junior. But based on the pictures it seemed to be very hard for Max's 2nd daughter princess Alexia..........

Ines was Alexia's godmother.  I would presume that may be a major reason she is taking her death so hard.

She is a class act. I understand why she spoke too - she would have wanted to put forward her (and the family's) words on the whole thing so no-one else but them could frame it. The pain on her face is so raw that I am amazed that she didn't break down. She is probably being strong for her mother right now. So sad
