Watching Shakhtar Donezc : Eintracht Frankfurt Euroleague match.
1:1 currently, after very early Frankfurt goal and Donezc penalty.

Hope my team keeps up the good spirit. Colleague of mine even travelled there - I do so want him to come home with a win!

At the end, it was 2:2, Rita (and Donecz had only 10 players left ...), but at least 2 goals abroad, who knows, this might be important ...

Interesting matches this week, and a pity that Dortmund lost against Tottenham that high ...

So after Bayern lost yesterday against Liverpool (field day for Kloppi!), it turns out that my team Frankfurt has the chance to become „last German team standing“ in the Eurocups tonight,
in Milan vs. Inter.

San Siro will be in German hands –  13,500 tickets for Eintracht fans were sold (Frankfurt had reached out to UEFA and Milan to ask for more than the 5% tickets which are usually given to the visiting team, and got more granted),
inofficially up to incredible 20,000 (!) fans are currently travelling to Milan or are already there, amongst them two colleagues from work (Autobahn in Basel direction must be FULL of cars with Hessian plates ...).

Here’s two videos of the goosebumps-inducing choreo last week, when we played “only” 0:0 at home:

Including preparations:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyqjjikRQ2I

How it played out in the evening:
https://edayfm.com/video/KVOY74tg-Tk/page/1/

[The 120 represents the 120th anniversary of the club, which was last week]

Forza Frankfurt!
I hope for a big party, and certainly for at least a draw with a goal, as this would mean we get to the quarter finals.
I’ve been to San Siro years ago to see AC Milan playing, and it’s one of the most beautiful stadiums in Europe, because the ranks are very steep and you are thus very close to the field, and any noise triples in force. The athmosphere there is magic.

Yay Frankfurt! Sounds it will be a whale of a match!

I admit I felt a bit of Schadenfreude when hearing that almighty Bayern lost. But that's only because I'm still in a daze over Ajax's humiliation of Real. Anyone who knocks out a scary potential opponent for our boys in the quarter finals gets a yay from me  Wink

It's nail biting ... I was dining out, one eye on the ticker, I'm now home since 5 minutes and watching ... another 5 minutes to go, Inter needs two ... colleagues who are there are short before heart attack, according to their Whatsapps ...

Aus, aus, aus, das Spiel ist aus!

1 goal was enough. We did it ... quarter finals. Historic achievement for the team.
Last German team in competition. I'm so HAPPY!

It's never too late to congratulate you (Ajaxian or not) and wish you good  luck. There  has been a sort of bitter feud between Dutch and Spanish teams  lately and I don't like that. Supporters must be sportive and rival teams are not enemies. It is a game -- lots of money, true -- but we  shouldn't be carried away by localist bias . Beer

Gah what a match that was...

Ajax was nervous in the first match, but man, did they make up for it yesterday! My best friend's hubby was in the stadium. I spent an evening trying to find an affordable flight to Turin or even Milan once he'd secured a ticket, but he and his mates ended up renting a van and drive all the way. My friend told him not to bother asking her if she wouldn't mind him going to England for the away semi and instead ordered him to book a flight to Madrid asap

The Pomster was watching the game on a ferry to Harwich (2 night- 1 day school trip to Cambridge!) and he and his friend must have screamed the whole ferry awake!
