That dress is the worst thing I've ever seen her wear to this event.
I think I'm the only one who really likes that dress. Secret   I love the shimmer and color (like a nice refreshing cocktail Tongue). Her face, however... Nerves Yikes

A couple of years later, Marie wore a dress that resembled this one a lot. I thought it was a lot nicer, though.

IMO, Princess Marie has rocked the floral tiara.  As the wearer since her wedding day, she defines it every time.
A tiara is a tiara.

IMO, CP Mary has never been satisfied with what you married into.  Always wanting more.
Perhaps her wedding tiara was meant to be a gifted necklace but she made it a tiara.   Thinking
Perhaps QMII saw the greed in Mary's eyes and held tight the keys to the tiara vault.
Just because Queen Bea let Maxima have access to the vault early doesn't mean QMII have to follow suit.
Perhaps as CP, Mary was only suppose to ever wear the Ruby Parure - until her time comes - which is nothing to cry about.
Mary just has to rock her true altruistic self if it's there.
The jewels will look that much lovelier.

Thank you, DofS.  I see that no matter what she does with it it still looks like a grey concrete slab.

IMO I think this gray dress is not one of the worst she's ever worn, but I prefer the previous version
Mary looks better with simple, one color, not shiny, straight dresses:

Shiny, colorful and such, make her look older and kind of a  Clown

Very interesting comparison. I think you're right, apart from the red dress in the middle, in the second row of pics. I like that on Mary, red suits her well.
As for the grey dress, I prefer it without its jacket. With the jacket is perfect for an older woman.

Wasn't the original grey dress under the jacket brocade?  Do you have a pix of that dress alone.  I would love to see it: not sure I have ever seen it.

I can't believe I'm typing this but I've always thought Mary has the potential to be a very classy and pretty person. Before the plastic surgery, I'd say she was pretty in her own way, and certain colours such as red, really suit her. Unfortunatley, her egotistical personality, several plastic surgery interferences and downright crazy outfit choices spoil that. I feel so sorry for Danish people knowing they have this mess representing them.

The ruby tiara was so much prettier back then.

Well, apparently the Ruby parure had to be botched so that it would be more versatile and convenient to accommodate Mary's various hairstyles!

All of the top dresses are nice.

None of the bottom row dresses look good on her at all.  In fact, they all look cheaply-made.

I've never seen that dress alone, but you can see the top peeking out of the jacket.  It appears to be the same brocade material as the jacket and the skirt.
