Here's a clearer pic of Sophie:

Maxima should have also worn the necklace.

Sophie looks nice.

Shame that Max didn't wear the full set.  That necklace is amazing.

I'm disappointed not to have clearer photos of Sophie, but this one is at least better. Are those large teardrop earrings? Have we seen anything like that before or is it another new loan? Wonder if they're aqua to match her tiara. From what I can see she looks very nice and I love the color of her gown.

WOW>>> MAAAXXXXXX...
Gal knows how to wear a tiara that's for sure.
Not only does the tiara not overwhelm her, she looks like she's just wearing a midsized one.
To wear that tiara, you've got to have personality or gravitas to match!
And the Dutch Ladies have em all in spades (like I know Oma Bea would've rocked it too, even though Oma never liked it).
My goodness and isn't that ribbon brooch/stomacher actually huge holllyyy...

It's crazy how much caratpower there is one picture (the picture of Max Wax HMQEII Charles and Camilla and her Greville), let alone the whole room.

And hasn't it been awhile since we saw the biggest Cullinans not attached to a Crown Jewels.
Love how HMQEII went like "She's going to wear the Stuart is she? Lemme dig out my Granny's Chips."

Max is such a treasure.

I need to download a picture of her take it to my office...she will be my inspiration for acting with grace under pressure.

Oh,and if she ever needs to recycle some of her wardrobe it would fit my daughter to a T.  They have the same coloring too.

Maybe Max is saving the full tiara/necklace combo for her oldest daughter to wear when her daughter is Queen?
I agree the tiara doesn’t even look crazy oversized on her, she carries it well!! Woo hoo
Pomme, you won!!

I had hopes Maxima will surprise us but she exceeded all of my expectations! The way she looked...  Supercontent  Jumping This was easily one of the best Maxima's looks. Her dress...I love the way the colours diffuse in in her dress, the deep and rich midnight colors look amazing. That sheer cape looks unusual but it make the whole look super elegant and regal. Her jewellery...The Stuart tiara is huge tiara but on her it looks wonderful and not overpowering at all. The stomacher was also amazing addition. With her height and poise she ruled this look! Definitely my favorite of the evening.
QEII was in white again, so no surprises but great look, same with Camilla. Great to see Catherine attending. Not crazy about her gown but her tiara and necklace

Max didn't let us down!  Her entire look befits a Queen.  Forget simplicity.  Go big or go home.   She looks regal.  My eye is also drawn to that huge diamond clip in the middle of her waist.

Just got myself caught up with the whole thread.
I also love that both Wax and Max are infectious enough that QEII looks like she's having a good time at a state visit for once.
(also maybe they caught Queenie on a good day).
But this whole visit really has good optics, hey?

That ribbon brooch has, IMO, been a favorite within the Dutch Royal family. Juliana, Bea and Max have worn it often, in various forms. If I am correct it can slightly be adjusted. If not, please correct me.

Mabel is also attending the banquet tonight  Banana

So glad.  Let's see if Mabel shows up in something with a bow.  We know she has a LOVE forv bows.

Well, she is considered as a poster model of those two Dutch designers (Victor&Rolf) who have their way with bows. These were also designers behind Mabels wedding dress with multiple bows.

I almost knitted a version of that wedding dress for my knitted royal dolls...   Whistle

Could you find a suitable patorn for it, or make it yourself ?  Wink Grin

I'd make it myself.  I did Crown Princess Victoria's wedding dress for a doll.

To use an old fashion phrase: COOL!!  Thumb up

Personally, I'm okay with the change from ivory to glass.  It's about time they modernized this.  The ivory trade is horrible, destructive, immoral and unsustainable.  William is a douchecanoe, but this is one thing I agree with him about.

I agree that the needed the new method as ivory is illegal but I would throw fits if William actually destroyed historical artwork and what not.

Agreed.

100% support nothing new being made from ivory, but what's already done is done, and there is nothing to be achieved by destroying already existing historical artifacts.
