Love Max's dress.  Hate Sophie's suit.

I get that they're friends and all, but I'm sick to death of the BRF's snotty attitude toward their continental counterparts in regard to doing the right thing.  Ed and Sophie are fine to be there, but Chuck and Cam should also be there.  WA and Max are the reigning monarchs, for god's sake.  Higher-ups in the family should be the ones to escort them.  I get why the Queen isn't doing the whole thing, but their nearest peer in terms of rank should be there accompanying Wax and Max.  If Sophie and Ed want to tag along, that's all fine and dandy, but their nearest peer should have been there.

After the Fabiola funeral nonsense, I lost any and all respect for the Brits.  This is just more of the same.  Roll Eyes.

I hadnít thought about it that way, Pixie, but youíre right.  Star  I guess I was too distracted by the fashion and the bling.

I wonder how a reduced group of British working royals will deal with future state visits?

I donít mind Kateís dress. It doesnít suit her personally. Itís really highlighting her slumpy posture. Her tiara and necklace are two of my favorite pieces in the BRF vaults.

I find Maxima way over the top in everything she does. But one thing she doesn't and that is what I am much appreciative of is: Complain about how difficult her life is.

I think we have just about each and every royal (and celebrity) on record for stating how difficult their life was, how different it was from what the hyped media makes it and how it was not a fairy tale.
Maxima seems to have a ball. She is as deep in designer bills as any other royal, she is enjoying all the perks (vacations, short first class trips to her family in Argentina, meat flown in from Argentina for her dinner table and furniture that can finance a subdivision), and she also does all the (yawn) events at nursing homes, fire-brigades and opening bridges, envelopes and streets in the middle of freaking nowhere. Yet she loves it and there is nothing of the so annoying upper-class ennui, of the "yes I am here, but I am bored".
She adores her QueenLife and she is not afraid to show it.

That is so true. I couldnít help help noticing how dull the BRF seemed in comparison to MŠxima even Will and Kate ! I guess it helps having a natural interest in other people(or if she doesnít, MŠxima should get an Oscar)  she is fabulous.

Well, the BRF is absolutely the least interesting RF, if you ask me.

I think the BRF is in a weird spot with so many older people so having Sophie and Edward, who are close to Max and WA, is better than younger royals who probably would tell Granny where to shove it anyway. Who wants to inflict that on WA and Max! And then the situation of C&C hosting WA&Max at Clarence House privately for tea and some time together seems more how the BRF does things. It's all very strange but no other royal family has so many people on the public purse and 'working,' not to mention how everyone is basically over retirement age.

I love seeing Max and Sophie together, clearly they love being together!

The BRF are such snobs, but I'm glad Max and Wax were didn't have sulky Waity and Willnot inflicted onto them and got to have fun with Sophie and Ed. Max and Sophie in particular are clearly genuinely fond of each other and it's nice to see.

Maxima's pink dress reminded me of Indigenous Australian actress Elaine Crombie's pink sparkly "traditional themed" jumpsuit:

Coming very late to this but just want to say how gorgeous Max is in every outfit, especially the bling.
It is so nice to see her and Wax kissing the Queen. We really don't often see anyone at the same level and able to show affection.
Andrew is completely sidelined, isn't he?
