I am still new to learning about the Greek Royal family, but are they required to marry in the Greek orthodox tradition, or is there a little more freedom to choose?

I believe Greek Orthodox is required or at least they are required to be Greek Orthodox.  Princess Alexia lost right for herself and her children when she converted to Catholicism after marring her husband.

Alexia & Carlos (1999) and Pavlos & MC (1995) all married at St Sophia in London.  Nicolaos and Tatiana married in Greece at an Orthodox church.   There is a Greek Orthodox cathedral in Los Angeles is they married there...and I'm sure there are smaller churches in the LA area.

Does the Greek Orthodox Church have requirements for parties getting married - ie do both have to be practicing members - or just one of them ? Many religions impose restrictions of who they marry - although these can be "relaxed" for people with "connections . . .

Her is the Sacrament of Marriage page from St. Sophia in Los Angeles (http://www.stsophia.org/s...ments/marriage/index.html).   Not that any church would tell a Princess of Greece no...the press alone if the wedding is held there is golden.

Nah, Sofia won't let her golden boy miss the event. Also, Felipe and Letizia appearead alongside Cristina during assorted events since the corruption case broke. Facing MC will be piece of cake.

I haven't heard about Alexia's conversion before.  I can't find anything about it.

I don't know if Alexia herself converted, but her children were all baptized in the Catholic Church.

Alexia´s children were baptized in the Orthodox faith, although the baptisms were in Catholic temples they were baptized by the orthodox rite.

Maybe it was when she married a Catholic...IDK...for whatever reason Alexia and her kids do not appear in the line of succession.

They're not in the line of succession because she got married.  Females can't remain in the line if they marry.

Although, it's all complete nonsense since there is no throne to inherit.

Really...ok then...guess Theodora is soon to be out.   Of course you're right about the nonsense bit.

Theo is in until the day of the wedding.  I've seen it theorized that Irene never married due to not wanting to lose her place in the line of succession, but nobody knows for sure if that's why she never married.

One has to wonder why they switched from male only to male preference if the gals would be out anyway when they married.   Again not that it actually matters but I gets one wondering.

I think that it was due to heirs having first-borns who weren't male, IIRC.

Irene has said that she didn't want to marry, if I remember correctly. There is an old tv interview of her, aprox. 10 years old, at some point I want to post the videos here with the translation underneath. It's very interesting what she says and it's a pitty we don't get more of her but she has chosen to live her life privately.

Didn't she have a long-term partner who is now deceased?
