Could the royal wedding occur before the end of 2020?
I don't think so and imo they want a summer wedding in Greece, otherwise what to do in October in an island (it's great if someone wants peace and quiet but we're talking about big celebrations in this case), and I'm sure they're going for an island/close to the sea wedding, rather than celebrating in a small church, in a mountain, different traditions, different lifestyle, different wedding.

According to the Greek Orthodox religion, does not a wedding have to occur in a church or cathedral in order to be valid?

As far as I know, yes. We have plenty of churches, by the sea but even if they have chosen another church, I'm sure it would be only 5 minutes away from the sea. We have sea anc churches everywhere!
I believe they're going for an island for many reasons. First of all, the scenary. Many couples, from all over the country and abroad choose the islands. Second, their guests. Other royal families and the rest of their circle enjoy vacations in our islands. Third, Konstantinos may be relatively familiar with the rest of the country (non-islandic Greece) but the rest of the family doesn't have a clue. They have no idea about the lifestyle, the dances, the foods, not to mention the history but what I want to say is that our islands is the only thing they know.

I was lucky to have a holiday on Santorini years ago .... it was even more beautiful than photos suggested. I can understand people wanting to marry in the Islands

I was lucky enough to be a fellow at a school in northern Greece for a year in my mid-20s and I absolutely fell in love as well. It's so gorgeous. I swear the sky is just bluer there than anywhere else. It'll be wonderful for them to have a wedding there!

I'm so happy when other people, who don't live here, say all these nice things about Greece!
I just hope that soon we will be able to travel all around the globe!

So true, what you said about the sky! I will never forget the sunset in the Aegean sea, the blue of the water and seeing the bright blue sky turn into yellow/orange/red. Happy memories

I was just outside of Thessaloniki! It was a great base to see some of the lesser-visited parts of Greece, and I was able to go to Athens and some of the islands as well.

We got married young too - I'm glad to meet someone else who has, I always feel like we were such babies and it hasn't been nearly 30 years! I'm surprised we haven't offed each other with being stuck at home together, ha ha. That's love right? Greece looks stunning, I so hope you get to go sooner rather than later to celebrate.
