Very interesting about the Oscars rumor especially since baby Sussex is rumored anytime between February and June depending on who you read.  Plane travel is generally fine until 36 weeks but international travel can be cut off as early as 32 weeks.  The Oscars are in late February so if (big IF) there was any truth than baby could not be due until late March at the earliest (late April at the safest cutoff).  British Airways requires a doctors note after 28 weeks.  I mention this because we know the Lainey is one of Meghan's mouthpieces...this Oscars thing is from Meghan not the Oscars themselves.

If she makes the choice to fly that late in her pregnancy when she doesn’t HAVE to, she’s showing where her priorities lie. It will be interesting to see how she interacts with her child when they are older- if they are as comfortable with her as, for example, Estelle/Oscar are with Vic/Dan, or if public interactions make it obvious they are being raised by nannies (I hope they have good ones!).

She made the choice to visit countries where Zika is still a threat while pregnant, so we know indeed that she's not about to miss an opportunity to be in front of the cameras, regardless of what doctors advise.

Meanwhile, I think the folks at the Academy who plan the awards couldn't give two sh*ts about having a former D-lister show up.

This all screams "Lainey" to me.

This rumor has never been in the realm of reality.  It's 100% Lainey, Sparkles and all her leaking PR fools.  She's not going anywhere near the Oscars unless watching it on the sofa is considered close.

Reasons being, the Oscars are Hollywood's biggest night.  It's the night Hollywood Royalty comes out to play not "miserable Duchesses".  Furthermore, I could definitely be wrong but those that attend and present at the Oscars are members of the Academy or they are part of a nominated film.  Inviting Sparkles, who has never been considered for membership in the Academy, nor had a leading role in a feature film, is nothing short of a joke. Sparkles was not part of the Oscar in-crowd when she was acting and there is no way the Academy would ever extend an invitation to her to join the evening.  For better or worse, this D-lister belongs to England now and is more likely to show up at the BAFTA's with William.  Too bad, so sad, that won't happen in reality either.

Good news: The hair is up & makeup looks nice
Bad news: Dress is okay but I’m sure ridiculously over priced
Worse News: Shoes are hideous

As for no stockings, I’m from the Midwest and in the legal profession, it’s 28 degrees and no women in this office is wearing stockings. IMHO having to wear stocking is an old fashioned thing although it is still required in courthouses.

Royal Meghan: the most coveted presenter
Quote
Meghan Markle’s first royal patronages were announced this morning. As expected, she is taking over the National Theatre patronage from the Queen, an excellent fit given Meghan’s career background. She will also be working with the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the only accredited organisation representing higher education in the Commonwealth. The other two are Mayhew and Smart Works – more information about all of the patronages can be found in this Kensington Palace Twitter

Quote
As for the title of this post, it’s related to the previous article, about the host-less Oscars and how the Academy is instead trying to line up an all-star roster of presenters. Who’d be the biggest get? There are two:

Michelle Obama, in person and not via video, and of course Royal Meghan. I reported last year at the Oscars that this was a possibility in 2018. Word is, the Academy had been negotiating with Prince Harry and Meghan but, due to some security concerns, they couldn’t make it work. Will it happen this year?

AV how does one become memebers of the Academy? Do you have to have a film etc that is nominated to be accepted into the academy? I presume the academy is in USA?

thx

Did anyone in the bright world of PR and all things alternative facts think how someone turning up in clobber that costs the earth for these unfortuante souls trying to get ahead would be perceived by them, and public in this day and age of austerity and disadvantage?

Yes, The Academy of Motion Pictures (aka Oscars) is a US organization. You need to have had a movie that’s been theatrically released to be considered. You also can’t apply to be a member. Two existing members would have to sponsor you. From what I know, Meghan doesn’t qualify to be a member.
Here’s the exact wording from their site:

WHO
Academy membership is limited to film artists working in the production of theatrically-released motion pictures.  The Academy has 17 branches, for the crafts ranging from Actors to Writers, and two categories, Members-at-Large and Associates to accommodate individuals who work in motion picture production but do not fit into one of the branches.

The requirements for each branch and category can be found by clicking here.

HOW
The Academy’s membership process is by sponsorship, not application.  Candidates must be sponsored by two Academy members from the branch to which the candidate seeks admission.

Additionally, Academy Award nominees are automatically considered for membership and do not require sponsors.

Nominees and sponsored candidates are reviewed by branch committees and recommendations for membership are considered by the Academy’s Board of Governors.  The Board decides which individuals will receive invitations.

Membership review takes place once a year, in the spring.

Very interesting patronage’s and well suited to her, she seems to like being hands on and works well with the charity organisers, so far the ladies from the Hubb and from the one this week had nothing but good things to say and both mention many prior visits.  Nice to know that she’s been doing stuff while not on public engagements, I don’t think she’ll take much maternity leave to be honest, I think she’s a doer and is happier while doing stuff.  I wonder if there will be anymore or if this is it for now.

Edit: just saw the info in the article, it was the woman bodyguard from the Fiji market. I wonder if it is fallout from that for some reason? Did she balk at taking the blame for the 'security scare'?

I don't know Mariposa, I think she really is a horrible person and that's why everyone is leaving. She's a diva to the nth degree, a demanding one at that. And what is the reward for putting up with her crap? Apparently not enough for her staff to want to stay.

Wow, I wonder if this is the same woman that was escorting Imelda out of the market in Fiji where she couldn't stand the idea of rubbing elbows with the unwashed.  Thinking

Yes, that’s her, she’s an inspector with the London Met and is apparently not only leaving Imelda, she’s leaving the London force entirely (they don’t say if she’s taking a job in another police force elsewhere in the country, or indeed anything about where she is going). I’m with you, I don’t have a hard time believing Meghan is that difficult. She’s an actress from Hollywood, and they are well known for being rude and peremptory with support staff. The Samantha departure I’m willing to write off to it never being intended as a long term position, just a transition position, but the Melissa departure seemed very fishy, and as if it was due to Meghan being unreasonable.

Edit: Karma, I just saw your edit! Hope it’s ok with you if I leave my post as it was, I’ll edit out the bit you edited out if you want.

Beer  Star I love the photo you used, it highlights how tiny Meg’s bump was on that tour. It’s smaller than her bodyguard’s perfectly normal tum! And yet apparently so huge she had to wear that enormous maternity coat to Eugenie’s wedding...

I guess I wanted to give her the BOTD that she is in fact not that insufferable.

I do think there is some truth to her behaviour. As much information comes out about her they all have a common denominator.

You read how she is not liked in the palace. Then you get articles from “inside sources” saying she is not as bad as people think she is.

She and Haz are miserable. Think that will lead up to another statement release by Haz.

She always wants to be the center of attention after saying she didn’t want to up stage anyone. Please.

She announced her pregnancy at someone’s wedding. And it “leaked” a day before on someone’s bday that one of her patronages will be NT.

I guess I can imagine that she is that bad lol
