Does Gustav's sister( that breeds horse) her husband and two children also live in the Castle? What about the other sister that is divorced from Count Jefferson (by the way--what his he now doing and where) with 3 kids I think...live in the Palace or in Denmark??
I've read that Alexandra now lives in Denmark. The two kids are older, and most likely spend most of the year at boarding school. I think Nathalie and Alexander live in the castle. No clue about what happened to Jefferson. Before the divorce, IIRC, they were living in Germany, but not at the castle.

Before her divorce, Alexandra lived in Germany but not in the castle. IO think she now lives in Denmark, and has a boyfriend there.
Nathalie has her own farm for breeding horses in Belburg region. Not sure is she and her family live at the farm, or at the castle.

Last year I visited Berleburg. If I understood the tour guide correct Nathalie and her family live in an appartement at the castle.

Did someone summon me? 1. Nope, not Robin. Whoever keeps correcting that on Wikipedia (Robin) is incorrect. The heir is Bernhard (Bernhardt) of the junior branch of S-W-B, aka S-W-H : https://en.wikipedia.org/...n-Wittgenstein-HohensteinTo verify, look no further than the order of service for the funeral of Gustav's father, Prince Richard. Gustav correctly supported and escorted his mother, the Prince's widow, whilst Carina, Gustav's consort, was escorted by and attended to Bernhard(t); this signifies B's position as heir to G, and is directly in keeping with precedence of attendees. Bernhard, who married in accordance with House Laws, has a son who, once both Bernhardt and Gustav are gone, will in essence re-unite the estates and titles which were split in the early part of the last century. He is being raised by a strong intelligent mom and a dad who is active in his church and is as involved in his estates husbandry as is Gustav. Overall, it will be an excellent outcome when Wenzel steps into the role of Prince of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleberg, however sad it will be due to the deaths of his father Bernhardt and cousin Gustav. 2. Nope, Gustav can't change the laws of inheritance or his grandfather's will, nor the House Laws which far pre-date his grandfather. The specific laws binding the inheritance end with Gustav, but the House Laws govern into perpetuity. So, while another House in a similar situation attempted to overturn the inheritance laws in current times, they were not successful. The S-W-B did not pursue legal action because they had no basis to do so and case law currently underway when Carina came on the scene (and subsequently adjudicated) pointed to the slim-to-none-chances. Gustav and Carina seem to have made their peace with the situation and with each other's individual growth. When she first burst onto the scene, there was a lot of ridiculousness that was fueled by her inability to leave American norms of seeking out press coverage and fandom behind her. As time has moved on and she has found a niche as an author while Gustav moved further into his role as Prince with his father's guidance, a balance was found. Although I find the whole situation ridiculous, I do find it fascinating from a legal/financial/wealth preservation/estate management perspective. Thanks Curtains - is there a difference between the Title and the Estates ? If Gustav married someone "unequal" what would be "lost" I am aware of titled men who can't pass that title onto their daughters (and have no sons) but can pass on the homes, money etc to whom they choose . . Title can stay with Gustav if he married unequally, but not the “stuff”. That would all go to the next heir. Anyone bound by House laws can marry anyone they want, they just can’t keep the stuff if they marry in contravention of House laws. So they have made choices . . . . tonight I was arranging a family and friends dinner . . . . I thought people would be "generous" in terms of availability . . . Guess the Princes and Serfs are the same world wide

Gustav and Carina also use an appartement at the castle, if I saw it correct above the entrance among others. This because I was asked to test the front door (lock) by the tour guide. She reacted a bit upset when she discovered I used the wrong doorbell at first Benedikte was, according to her, living in the 'house' at the backside of the castle. Divided from the castle by an indoor garden.

Interesting. I'm learning a lot about this extraordinary couple. Wouldn't know what exactly motivates Prince Gustav behaviour, but in a way he has my respect for rebelling. Or for just living his own life as he sees fit.

Yes, it has. It was finally decided in October 2020 that Gustav is the rightful heir. Ludwig tried to use Gustavs relationship to Carina (Axelsson) - a commoner- to build a case. Speaking of Carina.... in an interview in September 2020 (German magazine "Bunte": https://www.bunte.de/roya...u-nutzen-um-mich-als.html) Gustav stated that Carina was living in the south of England and that they were "friends" and not married. So, is his relationship with Carina over?

Carina's been in Dorset writing books, walking her dogs and generally living her best life for about 2 years, so I think the relationship has been over for a while

That's sad if the relationship between him and Carina. They seemed like a great couple. Does this mean that Gustav can marry, if he wants, according to this new law?

IMHO the fact remains that he isn't allowed to marry a commoner... Very sad! They were really a great couple!

I find it sad that these rules still exist. What do I know maybe they were comfortable with the situation.
But I wonder...does Gustav regret not standing up to his father/relatives? Does Carina silently regret of never going to have children?

I do too - in 2021 rules about who you can marry sound as antiquated as bloodletting. What happens to the title if Gustav never has children?

The realistic next step will be that Gustav will fall in love with someone "suitable" and he will have children in the end. It's sad, but it always seemed like his relationship with Carina wouldn't go on forever, not with the whole succession issue hanging in the balance.
