June 13Joachim as Patron presented the Prince Henrik's Danish Europe Nostra Prize 2019 at Christian VIII's Palace, Amalienborg
Europa Nostra aims to promote the architectural and landscape cultural heritage, raise the standard of urban and landscape planning, and promote the quality of traditional building crafts.
The award ceremony took place in Christian VIII's Palace, Amalienborg, where Prince Joachim, as patron of Europe Nostra Denmark, was responsible for the award of Prince Henry's Danish Europe Nostra Price 2019. The award was awarded to art historian dr.phil. Ulla Kjær, who received the award for her dissemination of the French and Danish art and architecture history.
Dr. Ulla Kjær has made a special effort to investigate, convey and maintain art and architecture history. Especially the connection between the French and Danish architecture has been a common theme in Ulla Kjær's academic work, most recently in the writing of the book "French elegance and Danish genius."
Her work is an important contribution to the understanding that good architecture often arises in the exchange over land borders.
Ulla Kjær has also written about Roskilde Cathedral, the Immanu church, the Hermitage castle, Fredensborg Palace, the Prince's Palace, Danish king's graves, manor houses and more.
Europe Nostra Danmark is an active conservation organization, which works under the auspices of the main organization Europa Nostra, which is located in The Hague. The foundation works with cultural care within both the urban and landscape area as well as dissemination about archaeological excavations and art collections. Each year, a scholarship is awarded to a person or organization who has distinguished himself by supporting the cultural heritage in Denmark.
Europe Nostra Prize was awarded this year for the 12th time. In the period from 1990 to 2007, Prince Henry was President of Europe Nostra. Since then, Prince Henrik has been hosting the last 10 years awards by Prince Henry's Danish Europe Nostra Prize.^^^^ Europa Nostra 2017
