Queen Máxima paid a working visit to Make-A-Wish Netherlands in Hilversum on Wednesday 8 May, 2019. The visit took place in the context of the organization's thirty-year anniversary.
Every day an average of three families in the Netherlands hear that their child has a serious, sometimes even life-threatening illness. Make-A-Wish Netherlands offers children between 3 and 18 years of hope and strength for the future by fulfilling their dearest wish. Make-A-Wish Nederland fulfills around six hundred children's wishes every year. The wishes vary from making a balloon trip to being a knight day.
Máxima spoke with (medical) professionals and parents of "wish children" about the impact of a wish fulfillment for the sick child, the family and the surrounding environment. The approach to the Wish Journey, the process that goes from wish request to wish fulfillment, was also discussed. Máxima also met several volunteers. They play a crucial role within the organization.
Finally, Máxima received the jubilee edition "30 Facestories". This book describes thirty children and their wishes that have been fulfilled by the foundation during the past thirty years.https://www.instagram.com...HWBu/?utm_source=ig_embed
