My idea (just a wild speculation): Frodo is not ready and it is very unlikely that he will ever be ready to be king. The man is over 50 now. He will not be able to rock the show. Daisy is getting on in years.
Having the Shacks moving to Copenhagen was a move that there would be a supporting couple (Jokke and Marie). This brought some problems as well ... They are doing a better job than Frodo and Mary for once. Secondly it puts their kids right into the public focus - so their parents would be "shadow kings" but the kids would end up not being in a royal job as the focus needed to stay on Christian and partly Izzy.
So getting everyone out of the country and make a big drum roll about it gave them the chance to appoint Mary as regent. So whatever happens in future it gives the Shacks more moving space (after all they are the spares) - my guess is that the Shacks will eventually permanently live in France and just come to "support" and disappear again. If Frodo is unwilling/ unable to work then Mary can run the show - after all Christian is 14 now, Daisy might last another few years and then Christian can step up (unfair on him, but ...). So Christian is getting a little fun time now because unlike other heirs he will have to start working soon (most likely supported by his mom).

Fred looks worse and worse, and the court photogs are no longer even attempting to find a good angle.
Mary is merching ever more openly.
The news about the Verbier house is public now, not covered up. No one at the court is even making an attempt to justify it.
Roles are shifting somehow, and the Crown Princely couple are being silo-ed. From the rest of the RF, and from each other.
Curiouser and courioser!
Wow, when you put it all together what initially looked just strange now looks bizarre. As for the merching, well apparently it’s all the rage now...

I did a little research on Verbier ..... it's pretty cold and/or snow covered all year round.
Mary, a girl from sunny Oz, is ok with all that?! What to do in Verbier ..... skiing, skiing, skiing and MORE skiing.
I could see Verbier being an isolation chamber for Fred. From what?

I'd say for Mares it's all about the show. To see and to be seen. Can't imagine that she cares for skiing much.

Verbier is stunning in the summer...as is all Switzerland. Hiking, running, biking, etc, etc. Certainly not snow all the year round and temperatures at about 20 - 28 Celsius..Sometimes warmer. You can swim at the Centre Sportif de Verbier in the summer (outdoor pool) and it's lovely. Google it!!

Sorry. I stand corrected on the "snow covered all year round." However, F&M and family are not there during the summer months and haven't been in the past.

What is going on in Denmark? Everything seems so weird with the royal world right now
I totally agree, the move to Switzerland is very strange. I wondering if anyone from Denmark , can please tell us other what are the rumors in Denmark about this move ? Probably some residency requirement for stashing money in Switzerland.

What is 'haberdash' code for?
a second-hand store where many, many pieces worn by Mary have been seen and sold.

What exactly is the difference between owning a house in Switzerland and owning a house somewhere else? AfaIk, basically all royal families and couples have holiday homes in other countries. Some more than one...and all of them were payed "privately" meaning from money accumulated over time from their apanage..

From what I know, foreigners cannot just own / buy real estate in Switzerland, there are strict laws. Curious about how they set that up.

Its not owning that is the problem as i read the dansih press but retning it out for up to 80000 dkr a Week when they are tax - exempt. The spokesperson say they have not made any money of it as it has been invested into the upkeep of the building and on the loan. It is a silly statement, just because you spent it does mean you have not made money of it😬 had they not done that they would have spent other money on this..

What I am surprised about: Do they realize that their job is to promote Denmark, not Switzerland? That whole thing is giving the message "Denmark is boring, Switzerland is where the fun is". Problems:
(1) They don't even make an attempt to explain what they are doing there. Is sking the focus? Being out of the country? Improving French? Meeting people? Getting away from it all?
(2) Where is the benefit for the children? - it is equally strange like MM and Hakoon taking their kids out of school to go travelling the world with them - during the school year.
(3) Having fun in Switzerland kind of gives off the message "we had more fun here than in Denmark" If you look at EII for example: it is Windsor, Sandringham and Balmoral. She stays in her country and promotes it.
(4) Christian at the age of 14 should be prepared academically. Academically that school is not doing good at all. Plus: all four kids wore jackets with the name of the school. Basically they were doing a free advert ... Why? And isn't that problematic?
(5) Daisy will be 80 soon. It seems unfair leaving her and her sister (similar advanced in age) with all the workload behind.
(6) Owning that chalet they are not supposed to own. Coming up with silly excuses.
