Its rather nice to see Vincent out without having Josie mugging all over the place for the cameras. I swear this is the most I have ever seen that poor child front and center in the family.

The photographer darkening the photos to add  to the mourning message created the illusion that everyone is unfazed on a rainy day and nothing else is happening.

Today Fred and Mary attended the funeral of the young count Frederik Moltke who died in a skiing accident only 27 years old.

Had a deja vu moment with this picture - Mary looking sour.
Reminded me of how Mary looked around the time of Henrik's death last year.

Take a look at how Mary was interacting with Fred .....

In the link photos Frederik looks truly sad: he must have known the young man or his family well.

Actually I think Mary nailed the pained face very nicely.

Regarding the Moltke family, they have an interesting tie to Claus von Bülow; Count Carl Adam Nathaniel Thayer Moltke was the father of Alexandra Isles, Claus von Bulow’s sometime mistress and an actress on the 1960s US TV series Dark Shadows.

Count Carl Adam had an American mother whose roots went back to the Dutch settlement of New York; he was part of the Danish resistance and a 20+ year appointment as part of the Danish Mission to the UN.

Alexandra created a documentary about this called The Power of Conscience, about the Danish resistance, with many first-person accounts:

I’m trying to track down the connection between the young man who died and this family.  The most I could find for obituaries in English spoke about the magnificence of his residence, but looking through the ownership of that residence, it would seem that the Alexandra Moltke Isles connection is more like a cousinage.  He died at age 27 which is just sad.

ETA:  The Moltke family was one of the prior owners of the Christian VII Palace, one of the four houses comprising Amalienborg:

This is a very quiet start to the year fro the Derfs, is it not? Where are those two lovebirds? I appreciate that Fred's probably sipping on a Jolly Cola and Turps while locked in the one part of the freaky palace where the art doesn't induce night terrors and he gets enough wifi signal to google 'hot blondes who look good in a tiara+don't mind four kids+strong enough to physically hold up drunkards on red carpets", and Mosh is picking out which Midnight Oil song she'll make her coronation march to, but really guys, come on.

Wasn't she commissioning to have "Advance Mary Fair" and " I still call Mary Queen" re-lyriced??

Too quiet!  I'm also intrigued by the fact freddles and daisy are going to Argentina.  I have to wonder if the trip was planned (and we know they usually plan these things  years in advance) as a "couple" event.  Did they decide they couldn't keep up appearances or stand to be in each other's pockets for even a few days and instead of disappointing and cancelling 1/2 the events, Daisy decided to go and keep down the questions.  I just think it's weird.  Why wouldn't  Fred go alone?  He doesn't need his mummy to hold his hand or guide him along.   Thinking
