Didn't Ingrid Alexandra of Norway combine a dress with sneakers recently? I can understand it is a current trend and such among youngsters/teenagers/adolescents currently, but I have to confess it isn't my taste. I think it is to bulky, to much contrast. Perhaps I am old fashioned

Current fashions for high school girls are not elegant, and not really colourful, and sneakers with everything. I cycle past 2 big high schools every day to Lil'P's primary school, and I find it quite depressing. (Then again, I was rather weird in highschool, wearing trousers made out of shiny pink satin lining fabric, 20 buttons (badges) of my favourite bands, and my mom's sixties' super pointy nose heels. And blue nailpolish. Like an '80s Tavi Gevinson but without the talent.)


Oh did I say I quite like NQM in a navy dress uniform?
She should get it in All The Colours and look good until (and beyond) kingdom come.
Or she could get a side hustle as captain of the Love Boat.

Well, I was more the jeans (oversized and during grow spurt often high water) with an oversized sweater or blouse type of girl. Underneath regular (leather) shoes with laces.

Later I started to wear more tight fighting clothes, I prompt got the question if I had lost weight. Because apparently they weren't aware of the slender body I had been hiding in the oversized clothing 

Sadly I gained weight and some extra belly, breast and hip/leg material, the past years

You are absolutely right, Principessa! Princess Ingrid-Alexandra wore white sneakers while wearing a lovely midi-length blue and white dress at an event with the King and Queen! I think it's a look that only teen/adolescent girls can pull off. And it's not my taste either, but you pick your battles!

I definetely think it is a trend. Some of my older cousins have daughters in the 10-16 age bracket and I have noticed them wearing the shoes too.

It is not to my taste either, but like you say, I imagine their are times where you just have to pick your battles as a parent, and this is not one worth fighting. It will probably be one of those things they look back in 10-20 years time and think "why didn't I wear a nice pair of shoes with that lovely dress!?" the same way women my age look back and cringe at our overplucked eyebrows and plastic butterfly hairclips.

She is apparently a First Lieutenant in the Home Guard, having joined in 2008, and the medals are:

Homeguard Medal of Merit
Prince Henrik's 75th Birthday Medal (2009)
350th Anniversary Medal of the Royal Danish Life Guards
70th Birthday of Her Majesty Queen Margrethe (2010)
Ruby Jubilee of Queen Margarethe of Denmark (2012)

Ruby Jubilee of Queen Margarethe of Denmark (2012)

Golden Wedding of Her Majesty Queen Margrethe and His Royal Highness Prince Henrik (2017)
Prince Henrik's Commemorative Medal (2018)

Whatever all that means.  But basically medals for being royal.

Beat me to the list - in fact, it’s better than my list, I missed a couple.  Essentially these are mostly medals given out to attendees at royal parties.  So she gets a piece of tin to smack on her chest every time she shows up for a hot meal.

The epaulettes - no idea.

Fred pulling away his hand repeatedly and charging ahead into the banquet - brrrr! And not just weather-wise!

I think that, with the kids becoming more adept at public appearances, we are going to see Madame sidelined or pushed to the back more and more.  Fred and Izzy would be a great duo for events!  Christian needs to start down this road as well, the sooner the better.  Daisy can’t hold on forever and...well.....having the kids well trained as Royal backup to Fred instead of Madame will make future decisions easier.

I love the majority of royals but hate it when they wear medals that they haven't really earned just to "show off". There are people in the world who have really earned their medals and awards, so for a complete fake like Mares to go swanning around in a collection of medals she got just for being "there" really upsets me.

The majority of Fred's medals are also "royal attendance medals"(?), and of other royals too.
Mary and other ladies usually do not wear them, only on the occasion, but this time she decided to wear them like Fred.

And although Fred has completed extensive studies and training in military, I think most of his military positions/medals/whatever are because of his royal position/being the future king

I don't know how it works in Denmark where their really big on their medals but in the UK the Jubilee medals were giving to:

"Members of the British Armed Forces regular, reserve, and cadet branches, serving prison officers and members of the emergency services who were enrolled as of Accession Day and had been so for five years were given the medal in the United Kingdom. 94,222 members of the Army received the medal, as did 32,273 in the Royal Navy and Royal Marines, and 38,889 in the Royal Air Force. Longer serving members of the Royal Household and living holders of the Victoria Cross and the George Cross also received the medal."--From the Golden Jubilee in 20002

So more than just the royals.

Update: Looks like the Danes are real stingy with the medals limiting most to family members, employees, and "others".
