NEW 'Eva' silk crepe de chine blouse by STELLA MCCARTNEY = $451.50

Hang on I thought Stella was a animilatarian Thinking
that's why she did not used animal skins or byproducts in her designs.
isn't silk that comes from boiling silk worms considered animals?
or is this viscose and it is man made???

That’s absolutely correct Geta  Star, and good catch!

The manufacture of silk (and most things) is a violent and heartless process. Not vegan or animal friendly in the slightest.

I didn’t completely understand but on Stella’s website they talk about fancy bio fabricated silk and wool that’s PETA approved.  Putting PETA to one side...man made fabrics can be horrible for the environment because of how they are made.

I agree completely OC, but I also think she has to walk the talk. Wear and use silk if you want to, but be honest about it. My understanding is that there is no real way to tell how cruelty free a fabric really is, and that production of said fabric is a minuscule portion of the whole.

As far as Madam is concerned, pairing it with leather shoes and belt defeats any vegan cred she was seeking.

As far as I understand, they use 3 different types of silk at Stella's: traditional silk thread from China (cocoon harvest means the silkworms die), the so-called "Peace Silk" (silkworm may turn into moths & emerge from the cocoons, and the empty cocoons are taken for silk thread fabrication), and a man made "artificial" silk thread.

Then again, the blouse is boring, no matter the material.

Thank you Kaiserin  Star

Interesting information, and I guess from that there is no real way to tell which silk was used?  Anyway, yes the blouse is boring.

peace sik worm is not favoured as the silk worm cuts/eats its way out of its cocoon to get out therefore leaving short strands of the silk thread - hence why they boil them in there to get the one long silk thread. its undesirable to connect lots of ,ittle bits of silk threads to make a green blouse.

Of course it's overpriced and the pants are too long, typically Mares.

The Sweater.. OMG is so inventive and so worth the money. NOBODY in the entire world has ever seen or come up with the idea to spruce up a black knit sweater with a ribbon and some pearls - it is purely Genius !!!!!!!!
says she and runs of to try it successfully with an old Cashmere, a piece of matching ribbon and some old beads for a grand total of  Yikes 4.89 (in any currency you like)
