I just read it and I'm shocked. He was so active that it's almost never crossed my mind that he would die one day. He was controversial, yes, but so talented. He will definitely be missed.

Sad for people who loved him - I wear Chanel perfume and will think of him every day - yes it was before his time but when I am gone no-one will remember me ...

Very sad news. He was a difficult man but he created some beautiful, timeless clothes. I mean

Does this mean the Choupette is now Chanel's head designer?

She did. I mean, I would have stuck with the far more dreamy Joshua Jackson myself...

All I could think about was, what will Michael at D Listed say?  Lagerfeld was one of his favorite targets.

Hang on, the man became immortal after slimming to fit into Hedi Slimane's designs for Dior. Choupette has been pulling the strings at the firm for ages.

He was the first high end designer to make stuff for H&M, yet managed to keep Chanel clothes out of webstores.
If only Martin Margiela would have come out of retirement to take over his legacy, but it will be his assistant Virginie Viard. Good luck to her.

Honestly, I haz a sad now.

IMO he looked his best after his weight loss and he had the right balance between being classical and a bit excentric. I got the feeling something was wrong at the show in October -he did not wear sunglasses, had problems walking and his face was so puffed ... I hoped I would be wrong ...

He was extremely talented and left behind so many nice clothes.
