I think it has been mentioned in thei thread before, but seeing the lovely picture Mike Tindall shared with his tribute to PP - taken by Kate, reminded me of Queen Alexandra's role as family photographer:
https://www.thebritishmon...n-alexandra-s-photo-albumShe published this book in 1908 to raise funds for Christmas Charities:
Queen Alexandra's Christmas Gift Book - Photographs from My Camera' published in 1908 by the Daily Telegraph was sold to raise money for the Queen's charities. This hardback book is profusely illustrated with her own photographs and shows the people, places and events she and her husband King Edward VII saw on their travels. The pictures show both formal and informal occasions at such places as Balmoral, Sandringham, Cardiff, Cowes, Portsmouth, Gibraltar, Malta, Corfu, Greece, Norway and in Africa. Some unusual maritime pictures are included such as the early submarine A9, Shackleton's ship Nimrod setting off to the South Pole in 1907 and the raising of the Cruiser HMS Gladiator in 1908 after its collision in a snow storm with the mail liner St Paul. On the inside first page is a portrait of Queen Alexandra and a signature (printed). The Hard Back Book is Size: 11.5" x 9", full-page frontis of the Queen and 135 pictures approx laid out like a photo album with captions, good condition and clean inside. Queen Alexandra (1844-1925) was the daughter of the King of Denmark, brother of the King of Greece and sister of the Empress of Russia, these and other members of her own and her husband's family appear in many of the pictures forming a remarkable record of the Edwardian period. This is a real treasure to look through and gives you a glimpse into the life of royalty 100 years ago.
