As the baby is born on the same day as George Clooney, why not call him Doug (after Clooney 's carachter in ER) as already has been suggested by other RD members ??

John, Philip, or Charles, or something less traditional like Benjamin.

I hope they stick to "traditional" names vs "Hollywood" names...although Lord Avocado Helicopter Kenya would be funny. Whistle

I really think Philip will be honoured, Harry is rumoured to be very close to him and the baby princes George and Louis haven't got Philip in their names so I was wondering if it was being saved? Thomas is quite a nice name. I suppose with the baby not being a Prince there's a bit more freedom to choose ☺

I think they will. Meghan's style has always been quite classic and traditional - she's never been much of a risk taker and I think that will relate well into naming her child. Regardless if she had married Harry or not, I think she was destined to have a son named Alexander/Arthur/Fredrick etc.

Given Grandpa Philip's great age and fragility, it would be lovely to honor him  while he's still here by naming the child Philip. Philip Sussex. I can see it on name tags for when he goes off to boarding school.

But I'm thinking there will be a curve ball in there somewhere and than an African name will sneak somwhere into the long name sequence given to royal children.  Harry has always had such a love of Africa and I think Meghan does as well.

I think they’ll do a mix of BRF family names & a modern posh name that he will go by.

I think Henry and Philip will be in the mix but the first name is the wild card. My first name guesses:

Rupert
Angus
Felix
Rafferty
Atticus
Theo
Truman

Possibly Francis included in the middle names for Diana. I can seen Megan wanting to use Spencer but I think QEII would veto that.

I also wonder if they will choose 3 names or 4.

I like Philip for him too but the nametapes will read "Dumbarton"

I think his nameplates will be NN Mountbatten-Windsor just like Viscount Severn is James Mountbatten-Windsor or Viscount Linley is Charles Armstrong-Jones.  I guess he could use NN Dumbarton professionally (more of a nom de plume sort of thing) if he wanted to but I'm 99% sure that legally it's NN Mountbatten-Windsor.

I think he will be Dumbarton at school, like Charles Spencer was "Althorp"  and  the current Earl of Snowdon was "Linley"
