Maybe Harry and Meghan can learn a thing or two from a teenager...

And also, apparently, Pierre Casiraghi, who is helping facilitate the journey

I know this thread isn't about Pierre Casiraghi, but having lost his father at 3 in a boating accident, is it a good idea to cross the Atlantic in a sailboat when you have two kids 2 and under?

IMVHO crossing the Atlantic in a sailboat is a bad idea period.  I guess props to Pierre for helping Greta stick to her morals but I don't know something about the kid just rubs me the wrong way in general.  Was teleconferencing not an option?

ABC is reporting that to get the boat back across the crew is flying two members to the US.  They'll offset the carbon impact but the same could have been done if just Greta and her father flew to the US which would have saved huge amounts of time, money, and risk.  Sometimes flying is the best option...and crossing the ocean is one of those times.

Greta has become a victim of the PR machine of her father. It's his own PR agency managing her. A reporter is with them on board to document the trip ...
The whole trip is as ridiculous as are Harry's lectures.

To give speech at UN, for sure the best way to promote non CO2-producing & cheap ways of communication would have been a teleconference. Crossing the Atlantic on a race yacht (!) is in NO way a good example, because it's impossible for the wider public to follow her lead (or does anyone here have friends owning race yachts? The only boat my friends can offer is a kajak ...).

Plus, it was said she's planning to go on to Santiago de Chile in December, and also visit Mexico and whatnot. So, honestly, how will she travel CO neutral from NY to Chile? She has three months time, but it will be a hard journey by bike ... and she can't possibly drive by car (5,000 miles by air - surely more than 6,000 to drive! - and if the yacht is to be brought back to Europe immediately after her arrival, she can't go on sailing the Panama channel ...).

She had a good start, she inspired a lot of people over the last year, she has reached her goal that even governments entered into the dialogue - now she's overpacing.
Her father builds her up as the World's conscience, just like the Sussexes build themselves up as the game-changing, light-bringing wondercouple, keen on saving the planet with a new banana message on IG per day.

Both Greta and the Sussexes have lost touch to reality and people's everyday problems - they live in pink bubbles and are fed up with their virtue signalling.

There are strongly differing opinions here and I think we are in danger of going off topic, but I'd just say that people need to live their values, especially if they have a massive public profile and the weight of attention and respect that comes from being a royal.

Live your values.

And Sara L, if you are reading this, you are welcome to borrow that as one of your inspirational Sussex IG quotes  Wink

In no way whatsoever are we willing to host any discussions that dish on Greta. Take it elsewhere or threads will be closed. EOD.
