Aaahhh, the  Eurovision Song Contest!!!!! Supercontent   Jumping
The run-up to the actual event is just beyond this world.

Then, on the night (s, it used to be one night only, now it’s three nights…), I install myself on the couch with drinks and nibbles at the ready.
And invariably after the fourth or fifth song my mind begins to wander, and I start doing the dishes or something and forget all about it……  Secret

The Netherlands seem to be top dog this year.
Here’s to hosting Eurovision in 2020!  Thumb up
In the Hague if you please, yes, thank you.  Hug
The Invictus Games 2020 are in the Hague in May 2020. Let’s make it a double date! I'm sure Prince Henry won't mind.

Russian Sergey Lazarev has a truly magnificent voice, as he demonstrated 3 years ago.
https://www.youtube.com/w...st20C9Y&start_radio=1
And he’s véry easy on the eye, which is always an asset......
Looking forward to his performance and stage act!

As for the rest of the contestants: I am more than ready to either be amazed or blown away (Most certainly nót the same!) on the nights....

May the best song win!

Sorry, Sergey….  Sad  Lóve you to bits
But yeah, then there's Duncan and, yeah, him being Dutch and such, and yeah......... Hug sorry, Sergey.....

In general I am not a real ES fan....but like to listen to the several songs. Besides the Russian and Dutch entrances there are more nice ones, f.e. Italy, Azerbedjan, Switzerland  and more.

BTW the Italian singer arrived in Tel Aviv being ill. It was said he had 39C fever and larynghitis. Well if true, he showed amazing showmanship at the rehearsals

Here's a quick 11 minute recap of all 41 songs this year (Assembled by someone from Australia, who has rated them from worst to best apparently - and puts Russia in 1st place Real mad so obviously no thumbs up from me! )

Oh, and Australia? Opera at Eurovision?!
Has been done before.
Here's e.g. Alenka Gotar for Slovenia in 2007 (with one of the most beautiful intros in Eurovision history)

The Australian entrance apparently also had some medical issues, a big infection to the foot. It seems she advised against wearing heels.

Opera or opera like has been done before at ES, just like big dresses...

These past days listened to more ES 2019 songs....

Personally I also like (besides NL, Russia, Switzerland):

Azerbaijan:

Austria:

Albania:

Denmark:

I also liked Belgium, but I guess I would prefer a heavier (male) voice, which is more present, for this song.:

As I have done acrobatics and related I was fascinated by the flexible poles used in the Australian act. Just discovered the are invented, developed and used by the Melbourne group Strange Fruit. They worked with Kate and co to get it correct for the ES act.

This year I am also biased (as oft I don't like the Dutch entrance for the ES that much, but this year I keep on listen to the Dutch entrance):

GO Duncan!!  GO Netherlands!!

But I don't know, I am also a bit afraid. Duncan was and is currently at top in the poule (at the booking agents), a big favorite for the victory. But he still has to prove it, make it work. Everything can happen....

Some would crack under the pressure, but based on what I have seen and heard of Duncan, he is doing very well!! A kind, nice, open and bubbly personality.

When he left the car at the opening ceremony, he even gave a hand to the men who helped all contestants out of their car

Well, 1st semi is behind us, and I have to lie down for a moment......  Crazy

#Australia the only entry worth listening to (Even though the stage-show looked like "Statue of Liberty meets Frozen's Elsa, both dressed as popsicles", and which bright mind thought it a great idea to have that Aussie fairytale followed by a BDSM act from Iceland? Blink ), #Serbia doing well, as usual, in the Balkan Powerballad stakes, #Estonia doing well in the Pretty Boy Competition, and alas #Belgium falling flat (Would have loved to have seen Eliot in the Finals!)

Bring on Semi #2 on thursday, where the big guns battle it out for a place in the Finals: Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Austria, Russia, the Netherlands etc.

As for #teamduncan : looks like hes not fazed by all this brouhaha that is the ESC. Im sure hell do well! And he believes 100% in his own song, which also helps.

And by the same time next week we have all forgotten all about Eurovision 2019.. Secret

Still wondering why Iceland with their BDSM act went through to the finale.....

And there's me still wondering how we ended up in Tel Aviv this year......  Wink
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84LBjXaeKk4

As I am firmly #teamduncan some more Duncan (and yes: that's him (ll of him) in the official video):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eztx7Wr8PtE     the official video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfRqKtV6cGg     ready for the jury
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zxSyl9j6iA       the orange carpet entry

Even if he doesn't win (and should that happen, God forbid!, I truly hope he loses to Australia!) he has
shown the world what a great person he is, and what a great voice he has.

(Ummm, not sure if Im crossing boundaries here as regards to the forums posting rules. "Topless" counts as nudity. Does "Bottomless" count as nudity too?  Wink  )
