She's definitely making an effort to be or at least look frugal on this tour.

There's a happy mid point between at $90,000 Dior caftan and re-wearing your whole Aus/NZ tour wardrobe.

I'm glad to see repeats and low cost items, but it does jar a little after the $14,000 Valentino.

I would be quite happy to see some well chosen new items by British and SA designers. You can strike a balance between rubbing your wealth in people's faces and looking like a backpacker.

And Harry, this goes double for you

"Being a working mom and traveling as well with a baby, my goodness it’s a lot but it’s all so exiciting.”

Since when is she a working mom??
Wimbledon? US open? Ibiza? Southern France?

Oh you mean that day she showed up for a photoshoot but only released pictures with herself? Or the 1 hour visit to launch that photoshoot? Or meeting Beyonce? Or this current tour with 3 hours of "work" a day and a long 4 day weekend planned in the middle?

Talk to me when you're consistently working 40+ hours a week.

Had they not already seen 3 nannies coming and going? Wink  Grin

But in the case of Meghan it is a huge exaggeration! Here in the Netherlands I see many working mothers with more than 1 child, including those who travel for work or even work full time.

Unfortunately, Harry is sticking for the most part to his gray, unironed suit. He probably isn't allowed to expand his wardrobe the way Megs does. Thumb down

Wrap dress from the sustainable brand Mayamiko, and Castañer canvas wedge espadrilles.

Veronica Beard shirtdress that she first wore in Tonga last year and the same pair of Castañer espadrilles as earlier in the day.

visit to Monwabisi beach where Meghan and Harry played a group bonding activity, visited charities, and had an honest conversation about mental health, the duchess wore a Madewell denim jacket (an old favorite of hers), a white linen shirt from J. Crew, and a familiar pair of black jeans from Mother Denim. She also wore a comfortable pair of leather huaraches from Brother Veilles that she first wore to a polo match in July.

During a tea party and a visit to a mosque, the duchess wore a khaki maxi dress with a belted waist by the Los Angeles-based brand STAUD and new cream Sam Edelman flats.

Japanese GoWeave Essential Jumpsuit by Everlane, costing $120, which she first wore when working on the issue of Vogue magazine that she guest edited earlier this year. This time she accessorized with swept-up hair and the gold earrings by Gas Bijoux that she sported in Morocco back in February.

I think, and mark my words, unless she has a $$$$-dress for the last days in petto, her marching order was to spend as less as necessary and to recycle whatever possible.
This way (and especially without new jewellery), she might keep the total well below USD 10,000.

And if so, I bet Sunshine Sucks has already an article in the drawer headlined "SIL spent more on 2 days in Pakistan than Holy Meg for the total African Tour", which will be launched mid of October.

The problem is that she does this only because of the "turn around image"-need. Because no way her tour  spending is an indication of a lesson learned & a change for good.
Plus: she might expect kudos for this - which she should not get because of too little too late and the Valentino.

I am just catching up ... great posts, everyone!
I think she overall looks good - nice hair and make up - for her at least, if comparing with previous fails. good for recycling clothes and I think more or less the choices were ok, except for the mosque visit (she should have had her arms covered and the headscarf should have been placed better) and she should have had something nicer for the reception.

about the speeches they've given and quotes here and there - they are both idiots. empty and shallow stuff, and her quote about being a working mother - give me a break, Meg.

good luck to them. only Meg's sugars are the stupid ones who will take this spin unquestionably. she has spent so much money on ugly dresses and shoes and jewellery, it'll be difficult to turn her image around now.

If part of this SA wardrobe really is intended to pre-load for a PR push in the fall, I dont know, I wish we had a world back where it was as simple as reading the People in the dentist waiting room and not being bombarded by either the narcissism on one hand or the PR retaliation on the other. Its exhausting. So tired of image as everything and the only thing.

The clothes donation has the same weird backhanded insult attached to it like the banana messages incident. I get what she is trying to do, but doing it so publicly is embarrassing for the locals and tone deaf for her. Why can't she do things incognito (dont answer that) - perhaps have donated the goods anonymously instead (don't answer that).
