I heard she is in a psychiatric hospital at the moment. It will be hard to get through to her - obviously she did not care that she killed the girl she was friends with with multiple stabs and was able to act normally afterwards (and planned the thing) - and that at the age of 12. It is very scary.

Yes, that is indeed scary. I suppose she will have to be properly diagnosed to determine how to handle her.

here an extreme case in Switzerland. A woman who serves for life, but without contact with other prisoners because itís feared that she might kill again.

For anyone keeping tabs on the six year old student who shot his teacher:

Not too much new in the article except a more detailed description of the six year old's actions over the year he had been in school. It seems his parents would not allow him to be placed in a special needs class for children with behavioral problems. I'm all for lots of parental involvement with the schools but from the behavior described the child was a real danger to both students and teachers alike and should not have been mainstreamed into a regular classroom. I think safety should have overruled parental wishes.

I've known a few special ed teachers, one of whom taught kids with behavior issues. Early in our friendship TKotB asked her one evening over dinner what her day was like. She replied she was bit, kicked, and slapped, which was the norm. She was a marvel who stayed the course, but a lot of the special needs teachers in those situations burn out, and it's no wonder.

It doesn't matter how old you get, buying snacks for a road trip should always look like an unsupervised 9-year-old was given $100.
