I once ruined some of my moms favourite drapes when I was a kid because I wanted to do a dress like Scarlett did

My favourite movie of all times!!!!!!!!
Scarlett is legendary, when I was kid I wanted to be like her re. her character, her strong mind and her strong will.
As a young adult, I read the book and I loved Scarlett even more!

Years ago, while searching via google, I found out that a historian was trying to restore the Tara setting as a historical landmark but it was a very expensive project. The exterior of Tara was entirely ade for the music and the inside was empty. The interior we see in the movie was in a studio but the exterior was made specifically for the movie and is almost ruined now.

It's clearly one of the most iconic & glamorous couple of cinema history.

For the little personal story, my mom loved this movie and made me watch it with her when I was approximately 8 y-o, and.....  Blush I couldn't care less about these "love movies" at that age, so that when my mom wasn't paying attention to me, I ate a lot of candies to kill my boredom... and I got sick.  Sweating

I have been thinking about this a lot lately (mostly since re-watching the movie on a trans-Pacific flight a couple of months ago!), as a lover of both the movie and the book..... given the rise of limited series tv, I wonder if anyone would be brave enough to tackle a remake of the book, that covers the whole story, the history parts and all? I guess its so iconic, it would be hard to match.

Also, I loved the sequel book, Scarlett, too..... but HATED the mini series they made of that!

I loved the book. I liked the movie, but not as much as the book, but that's usually the case with me. It about time for a reread, I think.

My personal story involves my SIL, who adored Clark Gable (and Donald Duck for whatever that's worth). Anyway, she had pictures of him all over her house. An acquaintance, who had no idea who Clark Gable was, once asked if he was a relative . . .  Grin

The part I enjoy about the book and movie is the conflict/bond between Scarlett and Melanie.

I don't think they could ever do a remake that would come near to the original.

I agree!!!! Antyhing else, any kind of immitation will be just an immitation and a very bad copy. No matter how hard they try, there is only one Gone with the Wind movie and anything else is out of the picture.
