How well did Queen Mary maintain a reputation for formality and dignity?

Really well - Iíve never studied anyone with so much self control. After King George died, she still kept dressing the way he preferred (in fashions from the 1910ís) instead of more modern dresses that didnít require corsets.

Did you ever read this?

I thought it was an excellent and balanced biography.

Oh Cyril do read it!  One of my favorite royal bios.  And "The Seach For Queen Mary" which is a compilation of James P-H's notes & diary entries while interviewing his subject's friends & relations is also good.
