William, Count of Poitiers was the first son of King Henry II and Queen Eleanor of England.
He was born on the day August 17, 1153 that Eustace of Boulogne, King Stephen's son and heir died.

King John started permitting dispossessed clergy to buy back their property.
Clergy who wished to have their lands and property free from direct royal interference were forced to hand over large portions of their revenues to the king.

It was Christmas 1170. King Henry II of England enjoyed the performance of the jester Roland le Fartere. In return for Roland's service, King Henry gave Roland a manor of 30 acres in Suffolk.
