Eleanor of Provence was Queen Consort of England as the spouse of King Henry III.
When King Henry III was obliged to return to Gascony to quell a rebellion in the province, Eleanor was appointed regent. She was regent between August and May. As a measure of her status, she was awarded a large increase in her dower. Eleanor sat in two Parliaments and met foreign embassies.

Isabella of France was Queen of England as the wife of King Edward II. Before his coronation, Edward II traveled to France to retrieve his bride Isabella. He had Piers Gaveston serve as regent.
Could Parliament have prevented Gaveston from being the regent?

Joan Plantagenet (1328-1385) was the daughter of Edmund of Woodstock, 1st Earl of Kent. Joan's father was the second son of King Edward I and his second wife, Margaret of France. She married Edward, The Black Prince, the eldest son and heir of King Edward III, on October 10, 1361. Edward, Prince of Wales did not become King Edward IV because he predeceased his father. Joan was the mother of King Richard II.
