October 20Cancellation of the 2021 New Year's GalasDaisy has decided to cancel the New Year's galas for the government, the President of the Folketing, Danish officials and the Court on January 1, 2021, due to the continued spread of COVID-19 in Denmark.
The following New Years Sessions for the Supreme Court, Royal Life Guards and Gardehus Regiment Corps of Service Officers, Diplomatic Corps, Armed Forces and Danish Emergency Management Agency, I., II. and III. the grade class as well as the representatives of the main national organizations and royal patronages, which should have taken place on January 4 and 5, 2021, are also canceled.
During the Queen's reign, the traditional New Year's celebration at the Royal House has only been canceled once before. This happened in 2005 following the tsunami in Southeast Asia at Christmas 2004.
Instead, a small New Years party will be held at Christiansborg Palace on January 4, 2021 for the Prime Minister and a few other official representatives of Denmark.
